I just got a PhatBoy MIDI controller. However its software version is
v1 so its mode III only allows me sending CC in the range 1-13. I
wonder if there's out there any ALSA MIDI translator which allows me
to change this CC realtime to different CC more useful for
i.e. zynaddsubfx.
Any ideas welcome.
Cordially, Ismael

Hola!
The subject basically says it all. Since the hdspmixer
app is still graphical only, and I was sort of pissed with
the syntax I had to use to make amixer set the RME matrix mixer,
I wrote some convinience functions for Emacs.
Now, I have nicely named channels (with prompting) and can
use dB instead of integers in the range of 0-65535 to
set the hardware mixer of the RME.
Still missing however is an additional mapping for double-speed
mode, I didn't need that yet, but I will write it as soon
as I need it...
Get it here: http://delysid.org/emacs/rme.el

I seem to recall seeing a note in one of the software synthesizers on CCRMA
that it was based on the gnuradio library and API. I've been searching and
have not been able to locate it. Does anyone know offhand?
And, any comments on it?
Thanks,
Michael
EDIT: I forgot to fix the subject on the previous version of this, so it
appeared in the "Most Loaded Desktop" thread. I apologize to all of the
recipients for the off-topic reply. :(

I just looked at a local (and worldwide) music equipment supplier. The
following are listed for the same price.
- M-Audio Midisport 1x1
- Edirol UM-1EX
- M-Audio Uno
Which would you pick?
QLoud is a tool to measure loudspeaker frequency and step responses and distortions.
Find it here:
http://gaydenko.com/qloud/
Changes:
- Step Response plotting is added, this is a direct screenshot link:
http://gaydenko.com/qloud/screenshots/shot04.png
These measurements are done for the same 2-way loudspeaker (see plots titles).
It is clear, a tweeter must be shifted lightly beyond from a listener.

ok, that works, but the real issue was on kjetils snd-ls package, which
is already very nice configured.
perhaps i ll find the way how to add all that extensions?
cheers,

If this is a duplicate I apologize. My first attempt bounced because of
suspicious headers. And I'm not sure I was able to cancel it. I wonder
what's wrong with my headers.
Hi All,
I have a strange problem with the sound in my system. I have Fedora Core 5
on a Power Mac 2.3gHz with a Delta 44 sound card and a Unitor 8 midi
interface. I have spent much of the last month or so perusing the mailing
lists trying to find the answer to my problem. OK here it is. The sound
system works only after I boot once without a .asoundrc file and then boot
again with one. There is a thread that discusses something about detection
order. From what I can gather the Unitor 8 is being confused with a sound
card. Another thing I think I understand is that there is no set order in
which hardware is detected. What I don't understand is how to get the
actual sound card detected before the Unitor. I read that in order to do
this I should have something like "options snd-ice1712 index=0" in my
/etc/modprobe.conf file. Here are the contents of that file:
alias eth0 sungem
alias scsi_hostadapter sata_svw
alias snd-card-0 snd-ice1712
options snd-card-0 index=0
options snd-ice1712 index=0
remove snd-ice1712 { /usr/sbin/alsactl store 0 >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; };
/sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-ice1712
alias snd-card-1 snd-powermac
options snd-card-1 index=1
options snd-powermac index=1
remove snd-powermac { /usr/sbin/alsactl store 1 >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; };
/sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-powermac
As you can see that line is in there. And being a Linux newbie I don't have
much of a clue about what the rest of the file does. Here is the contents
of my .asoundrc file:
pcm.ice1712 {
type hw
card 0
}
ctl.ice1712 {
type hw
card 0
}
I would appreciate any and all help that comes my way.
I'll even sing at your next wedding if you can help me get this working
correctly :-)
Thanks,
Steve

but what is that meaning (from README.snd):
Here at CCRMA, we use this configure invocation:
./configure --with-alsa --with-temp-dir=/zap --with-static-xm --with-gl
i dont understand the -temp-dir argument, i am running debian, you
probably fc, so i dont have the /zap file, so "." will be used.
should i live with this?
another thing is that the record function does not works (and it never
did on my machine).
when i open record-dialog, the hole program segfaults, or even worse the
hole machine freezes, only reset and a new boot helps.
can i send you any more information that can help you to debugg?
very much thanks for the help and
cheers,
doc

That error is ultra-weird.
Which distribution are you running? Have you experienced this error
before? Are any of your disks full? Do you have something called "FAM"
in your run-level? Can you turn it off?
PS. Please use "Reply All" when replying to messages on mailing lists.
I almost overlooked this one, and its also more relevant to the cmdist
mailing list than linux-audio-user.

I navigate in two dimensions. I have 5x6 number of desktops where I use
Ctrl+Up, Ctrl+Down, Ctrl+Left and Ctrl+Right to navigate.
I have had this setup for about 9 years, and have no plans to change.
