Hi,
I played with latency thanks to jdelay from Fons Adriaensen
and I noticed my card (Delta44) consume 61 frames and
the Digital Mixer seems to add 2 frames of delay. 44,1 48 and 96
give the same results.
My nvidia CK804 included in my motherboard consumes only 14
frames.
I had expected better results from the Delta44.
Maybe I'm wrong with the test?
I can run ardour+jamin on a 16 tracks song at 64*2 frames
without xruns (except when graph change).
I am surprised that my computer can mix 16 tracks with
eq/reverbs/comp... in the amount of 128 frames and a $200 card
that just need to process 2ch of audio and DA/AD needs 61
frames...
Is there any other users who owns an ice1712 chip have tried
to test their card latency?
David.
Hi everyone
Just tried to switch from ubuntu to mandriva since I never managed to
make ubuntu not crackle on my laptop while playing softsynths - and
mandriva one worked - sort of... When I play from within zynaddsubfz or
a dssi synth ot doesn't crackle and works fine, but I do not seem to
have a midi through activated. I have tried modprobe snd-seq, but to no
avail. The midi area in qjackctl is greyed out. Anyone have some suggestion?

Hi All,
I never thought I'd be asking this on the LAU list, but here goes. My
favorite GPL composition application of all time, Modplug Tracker,
recently started working perfectly in Wine on Linux (FOSS in FOSS
on FOSS!). I've been writing some tunes with it, and it's good
to have this old friend back again. Because it's a Winblows app,
it supports VSTs out of the box, but I find that I am missing the
algorithmic/scripting/patching tools like Csound, puredata, etc. that I've
had to use to compose for the last few years since I left modplug on that
other OS. So my question is this; does anyone know of a VST that allows
you to script or patch effects on the fly? I know that you can run Pd as
a VST but I think it's kind of complicated to get it running, and I can't
seem to find any links about it any more. Same thing with Csound, and
I think CsoundVST is now dead. I'd prefer something Free and open source.
Thanks for your help!
Best,
Chris.

I was doing startBristol locally ./startBristol. The previous version is
on /usr/local/bin.

I will retry this. I believe I clicked the title-bar [x] to close them. GUI
disappeared, sounds did not.

I noticed this as well. Maybe I just could not figure out how to work them. I
needed to set the volume on those that did work. Setting a patch go another
to work. Others, no success but that might be me. Never used the real ones.
Hello,
For some reason Linuxsampler is not working for me and it used to do
it! I've tried both Fedora and 64Studio with the same results: I
create a bank of instruments, save it and close qsampler, then when I
try to reopen it I get a random number of errors saying
"lscp_client_query: Failure during flush timeout operation
(errno=-4)". Also trying to use LinuxSampler and Rosegarden has been
impossible, I get random crashes specially at opening the piano roll
editor in Rosegarden or clicking on notes inside it. I've tried the
LinuxSampler mailing list but I get no answer. I can provide some of
the debug output from LinuxSampler.
Thanks! I hope someone can help me.

Hi,
Has anyone made any progress with the streaming server for LAM?
Cheers.

I use one. Actually it's the "MidiMan" version, but same device. I
loaded this http://usb-midi-fw.sourceforge.net/ package, and it works
fine.

Hi , I'm having some problems with muse , zynaddsubfx and qsampler on
gentoo 2006.1
Everything was working fine with 2.6.17-rt8 .Yesterday I did some
updates and today I give a try to the new 2.6.18-rt3. After the
compilation I went to check it and muse starts but can't see the gui.
Back to 2.6.17-rt8 and the issue continues . It appears at the
qjackctl's Connect tab but nothing appears at the wm.
This is what the terminal says:
museseq
Trying RTC timer...
got timer = 13
starting with default template
showMarker 0
Same thing happens to Zyn ,dont show the gui and the xterm output
doesn't say anything. Something similar happens with qsampler. The gui
works but appears blank like waiting for linuxsampler becomes active ,
finally says that can't connect to server .
After a long time ,5 minutes at least, probably more, since both been
launched , the guis appears and all seems to work fine. I tried in both
ways , with realtime-lsm module first , and PAM later with the same result.
Don't where or when can I look for some info.
Any help would be very much apreciated. Thanks in advance
Saludos.

Hi,
Yesterday while I was researching how to get flash movies to load very
quickly I came across some detailed explanations of the buffer problem
that so many people get when watching flash movies.
Apparently it is widely known that streaming from a server where the
movie has to be fully cached in local memory while downloading causes
buffering problems in movies over 2 minutes long.
The official Macromedia solution is to use their closed source streaming
server which allows much greater flexibility and control of the stream
while also preventing the file from being cached in local memory so it
is harder to rip or copy.
This leaves me with the question: Is the buffering problem for movies >
2 min a design flaw or feature?
Cheers.

Snd-ls is a distribution of Bill Schottstaedt's sound editor SND.
Its target is people that don't know scheme very well, and don't want
to spend too much time configuring Snd. It can also serve
as a quick introduction to Snd and how it can be set up.
Changes 0.9.6.2 -> 0.9.7.0
---------------------------
-Updated Snd from 8.0/2.4.2006 to 8.4/13.9.2006. Many important fixes.
-Added --fast-math as default cflags option.
-Various fixes.
