Hi all,
Is anyone able to run freecycle on a 64bit installation?
Here the program opens and I select "Open wave": it shows the file
selection dialog but when I press "OK" the program segfaults.
Here's some output from gdb:

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to get my electric guitar connected to my sound card.
Keeping the card's input gain low keeps away the noise, but
produces a very low signal. I can put Jamin right after that and crank
up the input gain, but there's a maximum to it and I'm not sure whether
that's the right approach.
Turning up the card's input volume increases the gain, of course, but it
delivers a lot of very ugly noise as well. If I connect a microphone to
the port, I get a high-gain signal without noise.
The card's an SB Live! Platinum, and the mic port seems to be the only
capture port usable by Jack. The cabling for the guitar is all new.
I can provide samples of the input signal at the various settings if you
wish.

Paul,
I have being thinking about a software fix. Do you have some example
code of how to do a 'compressor' or up the volume? I think that would
be a better solution. Trying to keep the hardware cost down. It will
be a multi-user environment.

Hi group,
Looking for a good mic for a voice app. Currently using a cheap $10 Radio
shack cassette mic, Model: 33-3019. The volume is very low on both windozes
and Linux.
I wondering if the Model: HG-M73 or their Model: AVL516 would be better?
Any suggestion? Other sources? Experiences?
Thanks for your time.

Hi,
Has it ever been working ? maybe before when our server was at
Columbia, but certainly not since we're on linuxaudio.org.
I am seriously considering enabling this feature for linux-audio-user.
Maybe also for LAD (I think gmane is more user oriented than
developer, I'm not sure if there would be a benefit for this), but
certainly not for LAA.
This of course will be when I get a chance, and if I ever manage to
get in touch with gmane's admins to make them change this bloody
archive link that's still pointing at Columbia. So far, not a word
from them...
Cheers,

Hmm .. this change in hardware, does that have something to do with how
gmane is hosting this mailing list as a newsgroup? For me, sending messages
to gmane appears to be not working anymore. Is it me or has something
changed in your new settings?
thanks,

Greetings,
Is there a way to get the listserv to send one digest a day instead of several? It only puts a few messages in each digest, and I get up to 4 or more digests a day. It defeats the purpose of receiving in digest form, IMO.

Greetings,
I am noticing, both here and on the Ubuntu Studio User's list, that other people's posts get answered until the problem is solved, but mine are not. Sometimes the initial query is answered, then the thread is dropped before I get the help I need. Other times, my questions are ignored entirely. I do not see this happening with other posters. Nobody is asking for more information to help them answer, or asking me to post differently; the posts are just ignored.
So now, I am asking the community if there is something different you would like in the way I post. I have poured the last two years of my life into trying to get audio production working under Linux, with no success. I do not have a single minute of audio recorded. If I cannot get the support of the community, I don't see how I will ever be able to make music with Linux. What would you like me to do?
Thanks,
Paul in Seattle
