Hi Dragan,
I just downloaded alsa-lib-devel 1.0.14rc1 which came in from yum
upgrade and I got the same issue as you. For a fix, in
csound/InOut/rtalsa.c, I added this just before the #include of
csdl.h:
#ifndef _POSIX_C_SOURCE
#define _POSIX_C_SOURCE 1
#endif
which got it to compile. As I'm not familiar with the above macro,
I'll be asking the csound developer's list in a moment if this is the
correct solution, but this should work for you to get around compiling
now.

Sorry for the wrong header, it is of course today on 26.03. (I used last
years email ..)
Hi everybody,
my report (in German) on this year's LAC will be broadcasted on SWR2
(German National Radio) today at 23h (MET) in JetztMusik-Magazin. The
report focusses on the Wavefield-Synthesis and Recursive Dog Collective.
There is also a live stream available at www.swr2.de
Thanks to the organizers for all their efforts to make this great event
possible,
Michael

Hi all,
I have a relatively new setup with a softRAID mobo using dmraid/FC6. One of
the drives have recently began to fail so I had it replaced. However,
rebuilding raid via dmraid remains a mystery to me.
I've rebuilt the array in BIOS and that went apparently well. Still the
second drive has no partitions, yet both BIOS and dmraid report this as "ok"
which it obviously isn't. FWIW, I do hear the second drive doing some
reads/writes but I seriously doubt its integrity.
Should I simply mirror the two drives and then boot into Linux and hope that
this ought to do the trick? I am actually hoping for something more elegant.
BTW, FC6 does have some volume management tools (Gnome) but none of them
give you any options re: rebuilding of the array.
Any help is appreciated!

Hi all.
My goal here is to be able to spread out my ardour windows across both
of my monitors.
I just got X to work with two monitors, but they behave separately. I
can move the mouse from one to the other, but I can't send ardour
windows from one to the other. I can't drag any windows from one screen
to the other. can any one point me towards documentation on how to
enable this? does anyone have this type of desktop set up?

OK. Realtime may be obselete in some books but that does not mean it does not
work and cannot modprobe! The error in question means the module was not
compiled against your current kernel sources (or headers). Upgrade the
kernel, recompile the module.
Using pam-rlimits is easier in that you install it, set it up and thats it.
Note: The -rt patch places in the .config menu: Realtime (m,n) (obselete) or
some such toddy. If one selects "m" module, then it should be compiled as
such in the kernel build. It is not. Therefore, this config item does not
belong there. If one chooses (I still use it) realtime-lsm, one must compile
the kernel with modular security options and compile the module using
Debian's module assistant or equivalent or do it manually which is also not
so difficult. Each time one upgrades the kernel.
just wondering if anyone knows about the current status of fluid synth.
it seems to be fairly widely used however the current release is a
year old. i have been looking the CVS and that looks quite active.
however, i am having trouble compiling the CVS version for linux.
it seems that many people on this list are using fluidsynth here, has
anyone experienced difficulties witht the current release like i have?
cheers
Hi,
I have an idea in mind for a product which I'd like to own. Basically,
I'd like to be able to buy an enclosure that takes two off-the-shelf
hard discs (IDE, SCSI, SATA, SAS, whatever...) and connects to my LAN
with an ethernet cable (gigabit preferred, but 10/100 is acceptable).
It should have an onboard RAID (absolutely essential) and provide SMB
and NFS shares to the network (maybe also ftp), probably with an Apache
server to supply a management GUI.
I know that I can build something like this, but I would like to buy one
- I have found products by Buffalo and Icy Box which come close, but I
haven't found one for (what I consider to be) a reasonable price that
does exactlt what I'd like.
I'd like it to have an ethernet connection so I can have a box like this
sitting alongside the wireless router in my house,. I could then avoid
having any desktop or laptop switched on permanently - and still have
24hr wireless access point, DHCP server, print servers, firewall, AND
file storage supplied to anyone (permitted) who chooses to connect.
I would still use my internal discs for recording/playing audio, but a
networked attached box would be very useful for running backups, and
archiving data centrally.
Does anyone know of any products, or manufacturers who make such an item?
Thanks
Michael Nelson
Given somebody's using two soundcards with stereo input. Can she
enable JACK in any way so simultaneous recording from the four
channels is posible?
Any ideas welcome.
Cordially, Ismael
