Just wondered if anyone has considered adding Lash compatibility
to ghostess? It would really make seq24 an even more amazing
program than it is already....
It is a shame more linux audio apps have not picked up on lash.
IMHO it is one of the key things preventing linux audio from
steaming ahead of the competition..
I would be more than happy to put in time to help with this, if
there is anything I can do.. I am afraid my c skills are rather
poor though, and I would not know where to start with this,
unless someone could point me to some nice example code!
Anyway, please don't read this post as moaning. It is just
written with the earnest hope of improving the situation with
linux audio.

Hi
I'm trying to install dssi from source. However it fails this:
Csound5 Linux installer by Istvan Varga
=== Installing executables ===
=== Installing plugins ===
=== Installing string databases ===
chmod: cannot access `/usr/local/Csound5-20070518.md5sums': No such file
or directory
make[2]: *** [install-includeHEADERS] Error 255
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/atte/software/dssi/dssi-0.9.1'
make[1]: *** [install-am] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/atte/software/dssi/dssi-0.9.1'
make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1
What I really don't understand is how a csound error can show up when
installing dssi... Anyways, I must have some old csound install lying
around, how do I remove it?
NB: I do use csound but AFAIK I haven't installed it, I just modified my
path's to run it from the build directory.

It builds if I change it to u_int32_t in libs/pbd/shortpath.cc.
But uint32_t is defined in my /usr/include/linux/types.h.
Just curious about why they're defined in both ways, and why building
ardour2 didn't complain before.

For a few months now, I've been using ecasound daemons to run my effects chains for performance purposes.
Now I want to do some more with these, change them around, and experiment with them. To do that, I need to connect to the existing running instances, using some kind of client, and tweak their parameters.
I tried the ecasound.el emacs mode, but it insists on spawning its own ecasound instance, instead of connecting to one that is already running. Very frustrating, because it otherwise looks excellent.
I tried ecamonitor, but it doesn't *do* anything. It just sits there, and doesn't accept any keyboard input.
What tool actually works for connecting to an existing ecasound instance, much as, say, "ingen -g" connects to a running ingen daemon?

LV2 Simple Sine Generator is very simple plugin, generating sine when
feed with notes. It should load in any host supporting midi port LV2
extension, i.e. elven, ingen, lv2_jack_host and zynjacku. Plugin should
be usable for testing basic synth functionality and as simple example
synth plugin to start with if you want to code your own LV2 synth
plugin.

A hymn arranged and performed by my students AJ and Cody Shank. Recorded
and edited with Ardour and a few LADSPA plugins (CAPS Plate Reverb, SC4,
some eq).
Btw, at the time of this recording AJ was 13 and Cody was 12. They've
been playing guitar for just over two years.

Hi all,
The red light on the multiface is on.
Nobody seems to be having problems with the above card.
I just purchased it (second hand).
I'm on Ubuntu Feisty. 2.6.20-15-386.
So far I discovered that alsa's firmware binaries seem not to be
included with Ubuntu (I have not found them anyways on my system and
did not find anything in the repos. So I went ahead and downloaded a
matching version of Firmware package (1.0.14rc1), run configure and
make install and all went fine. However, hdsploader refuses to load
any firmware and reports the following (actually, the same error was
occuring before my installing of firmware):

Hello experienced gentoo users!
I am in the middle of my first gentoo install and stuck with this
problem. I am trying to compile jack with freebob enabled, emerge
--search didn't find freebob so I installed it with the classic method
configure make make install. Beforehand I had to emerge couple of libs,
and everything went fine. Then, following an advice from the irc
#gentoo_amd64 I created the directories /etc/portage/env,
/etc/portage/env/media-sound,
/etc/portage/env/media-sound/jack-audio-connection-kit/ and inside this
the file jack-audio-connection-kit in which I put
EXTRA_ECONF="--enable-freebob" (I also tried --enable-libfreebob).
Afterwards I (re)emerged jack. But no avail, jackd -d freebob says
"jackd: unknown driver 'freebob'" I'd appreciate any tips, thanks in
advance,
Best
