Hi
I'm new to vst plugins, and trying to make them work with my host,
energyXT2. Some work great, some have gui redraw problems, and some have
no gui, just a generic, slider based interface.
Let's take "buffer override" as an example. I downloaded it from
http://www.anticore.org/jucetice/?page_id=8 and get no gui. At the
original home of the plugin http://destroyfx.smartelectronix.com/ I see
it has a gui looking like this:
http://destroyfx.smartelectronix.com/bufferoverride.jpg.
Am I doing something wrong or missing something since I don't have the
gui? Some missing lib? Or is the native linux version simply without gui?

how have you been doing recently?
I happened to find a realy good website: www.okshoping.com ( E-mail:
okshoping(a)yahoo.com.cn MSN: okshoping2008(a)hotmail.com) which has been
engaged in electronics for many years and which is worth visiting. I do
recommend this website to you in that they really can offer the highest
quality, the best price and the most satisfying service. They also provide
the customers with warranties and guarantees to make sure customers will
definitely feel satisfied with what they have purchased!
By the way all of their products are brand new, original and genuine
sealed in box. And if you are able to purchase in bulk they will be in a
position to offer a much better price( certain discounts might be offered to
customers and the company has launched a promotion campaign for all the
products in order to celebrate the coming 2008 Bejing Olympic Games).
Live a better life via www.okshoping.com. You can give it a try and then
satisfaction will come in return.
Hi, everybody. I've just finished a remix of Ken Restivo's piece
"Vanunu" :

I've also posted it up on LAM. Enjoy!
best wishes, G.
This is a maintenance release, fixing a crash in Windows when playing certain
MIDI files and connecting a player output to VMPK input. The reset all button
now also resets the internal controllers states. The number of keys is now
constrained to reasonable limits within the MIDI notes range. The "grab
keyboard" feature is now an optional runtime setting, as a workaround for
some broken X11 window managers and desktops.
Thank you very much for the feedback!
Virtual MIDI Piano Keyboard is a MIDI event generator and receiver. It doesn't
produce any sound by itself, but can be used to drive a MIDI synthesizer
(either hardware or software, internal or external). You can use the
computer's keyboard to play MIDI notes, and also the mouse. You can use the
Virtual MIDI Piano Keyboard to display the played MIDI notes from another
instrument or MIDI file player.
Changelog:
2008-10-11 0.2.1
* bug #2143187 Documentation
* bug #2158014 Crash in Windows
* bug #2142335 Keys played beyond the upper MIDI note limits
* bug #2142321 Reset all button
* grab keyboard: workaround for broken WMs, now this feature is optional
* fix for generic Qt translations

Hi,
I've made and soprano score for my mum to practice voice.... (made by
lilypond)
What is the best way to convert it to wav (if it is possible with
soprano voice)..
Regards
I'm using an Adaptec AHA-7850 SCSI interface card. I used this in the
past with Sound Forge (back when it was made by Sonic Foundry) and it
worked fine.
I think SMDITools' problem with the ESI4000 is sample numbering. I
believe SMDITools starts at 0 where the ESI4000 starts at 1 (0 is the
clipboard). I'll come back with more info when I get another chance to
dig around in the SMDITools code (my C is far from great though (far
from good, even)).
Thanks,
Dan

I have some limited experience playing other keyboards/E-Pianos than my own old
Roland JX-305, which is a 61-semi weighted keys synth which specialised in
'Dance, R&B, Techno' etc kind of sounds. It was the keyboard version of the
MC-505 Groovebox in fact. Initially, I started off as a guitarist and just
wanted to have a keyboard/synth to play some accompaniments to my guitar
noodling. Today I play more keyboard then guitar, also for other reasons.
I have tried/played some diff. keyboards/controllers, like i.e. the M-Audio
Keystation Pro 88 (favoring a controller/softsynth approach), some of the better
Roland/Yamaha Stagepianos, the Yamaha CP-series and then some...
I personally most often preferred the Roland keys in the lower pricerange, the
Yamaha keys win in the upper pricerange IMHO. The CP series i.e. are all high
quality, keys and soundwise. But then these are all outta your pricerange I
guess, unless you'll find some 2nd hand top offer.

Polyphony is the max playable number of notes that can be played at any one
time. So, if you're playing a simple C chord, you'll use up 3 voices of
polyphony (C - E - G). But if now you keep them ringing with the sustain pedal
to play some single notes over your chord, you stack up the voices.
Since Piano/E-Piano playing very much involves your sustain pedal, it quickly
builds up to way more then 32 voices.

Good luck in your search. It may be worth checking local garage sales, flea
markets and the 'for sale' columns of your local newspaper/hebdomadal magazines.

since upgrading from Suse 9.3 to Suse 10.0 my Maudio Firmawareloader "madfuload" stopped working - due to really limited skills I had no chance to find the reason why, so I applied the madfuload command manually in recent years.
Yesterday I occasionally discovered this one on the internet:
http://www.diyaudio.com/wiki/index.php?page=LINUX+Audio+MAudioTransit
I applied the recommended changes to the /etc/udev/rules.d/42-madfuload.rules and the file looks like this now:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# madfuload.rules - udev rules for loading firmware into M-Audio DFU devices
# Audiophile
ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ENV{PRODUCT}=="763/2803/*", RUN+="/usr/local/sbin/madfuload -l -n -f /usr/local/share/usb/maudio/ma003101.bin -D $env{DEVNAME}"
# MobilePre
ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ENV{PRODUCT}=="763/2804/*", RUN+="/usr/local/sbin/madfuload -l -3 -f /usr/local/share/usb/maudio/ma004103.bin -D $env{DEVNAME}"
# Sonica
ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ENV{PRODUCT}=="763/2805/*", RUN+="/usr/local/sbin/madfuload -l -n -f /usr/local/share/usb/maudio/ma005101.bin -D $env{DEVNAME}"
# Transit
ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ENV{PRODUCT}=="763/2806/*", RUN+="/usr/local/sbin/madfuload -l -3 -f /usr/local/share/usb/maudio/ma006100.bin -D $env{DEVNAME}"
# Ozone
ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ENV{PRODUCT}=="763/2808/*", RUN+="/usr/local/sbin/madfuload -l -3 -f /usr/local/share/usb/maudio/ma008100.bin -D $env{DEVNAME}"
# vim: ft=conf
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
with this modified udev rules my firmwareloader works automatically again in my openSuse 11.0 .
I thought it might be a good idea to communicate this here in the list, maybe it's of help for anybody.
best

I recently purchased an Acer Aspire One Netbook. I am running the Ubuntu
8.10 beta on it and have most things working (sound from the speakers is
very low.. but it works). I also have MediaTomb server running on my main
computer that serves songs to my mp101 scattered around the house. Instead
of mounting a share and importing the songs into Rhythmbox or Amarok I would
just like to connect my netbook (when I am at home) to my uPnP server (I
dont have to keep mediatomb). So far I have not found much information on
what programs can do this.
I did load python-coherence via apt based on RhythmBox documentation but it
didnt seem to see my server and I found no documentation.
Any suggestions?
Matt
Stephen Doonan's solution worked for me too.
However, pulseaudio is still running, and I found only
Pulseaudio Manager in Adm/Session window.
Is it safe to kick /etc/init.d/pulseaudio out? What breaks?
Jackd is installed but nothing runs, and I cannot find a setup
in preferences nor in administration. However, launch of JACK Rack
made this too:
/usr/bin/jackd -T -ndefault -p 128 -T -d alsa -n 2 -r 48000 -p 1024 -d hw:0,0
Is that ok for click-free recordings?
Should I put this jackd command to /etc/init.d somewhere for automatic
launch and for higher soft-RT privileges?
Now QTractor works while it did not work prior launching JACK Rack.
Very good idea for JACK Rack to start the server if it is not running
already.
What is ESD in Preferences/Sound? It is ok if Gnome uses software
mixing for its sound beeps, but if it is a sound device software,
then that must go. If I unmark it, what then is used for the beep
mixing? I don't want that my audio card is used for mixing 20
beeps while I record.
Are system beeps harmful when I record?
I want 24 hour perfect recording. What disk hungry processes
/etc/init.d/ and /etc/crontab launches? (Mlocate?)
Perhaps the disk usage, like kernel flushing its buffers, is not
an issue anymore but years ago it did lead me to write (alsa)shmrec.
With two processes and a lock-free buffer (first time when such was
used in Linux audio?) the system (P90) turned from a click-hell to
a click-free recorder. I could even use emacs and other applications
while recording!
