This is Steinway_IMIS soundfont, version 2.2.
ftp://musix.ourproject.org/pub/musix/sf2/Steinway_IMIS2.2
This version fixes the issue with loops. I hope this is the good one
and there are no more remaining major bugs.
Marcos is a little busy right now, so he asked me to make this fix. He
is thinking to make other improvements, so expect more updates soon.
Hello,
Does anyone know of a good plugin that will generate subharmonics?
I would like to put a little more low frequency "oomph" into my bass
track. Preferrable LADSPA, but VST would work, too.
Thanks for any help!

Hi all,
following a basic rule for open source project "publish early and often" I
release the very first (but quite feature-rich) version of TapStart to the
public.
TapStart is a basic tempo-measurement where you tap some beats and get the
(averaged) tempo displayed. But there is more to it:
- TapStart also updates the jack-tempo (if a running jack was found during
startup) and can even start the jack transport after a defined number of
taps. This is implemented for using this thing in jam-sessions to get a
click/drum-computer to play in a tempo not known before.
- TapStart can also send OSC-messages with the tempo/delay-value as argument
to any gives host and path.
You can find more information on its page at
http://www.arnoldarts.de/drupal/?q=TapStart
ofqf (http://www.arnoldarts.de/drupal/?q=node/573) is needed for the osc-part
and has to be installed beforehand.
The direct-link to the source package is:
http://www.arnoldarts.de/drupal/files/downloads/tapstart/tapstart-0.1.tar.gz
ofqf: http://www.arnoldarts.de/drupal/files/downloads/ofqf/ofqf-0.1.1.tar.bz2
Have fun,
Arnold

Hi,
There is a Free Software event in south of France this summer.
We would like to make a place for libre audio and libre culture, which
includes conferences and workshop around the tools (softwares), the
diffusion (medias, communities, ...), the licences, the users (examples of
audio studio using free technologies, examples of libre artits, ... )
So don't hesitate to send your propositions
Here is the official call for conference :
>From 1st to 5th July 2008, the Ninth Libre Software Meeting(9th LSM) will
take place in Mont-de-Marsan, in south of France. Hundreds of conferences,
workshops and showings will be programmed.
To maintain the interest of the public, it is important for LSM to renew the
content of different themes. So, if you participate in a new or unknown
project, if you wish to share your passion and your libre software
experience, we will gladly welcome you during LSM 2008.
We start a large call for communications on the following axes :
- thematic conferences - all subjects are interesting, particularly
those we have not thought about ...
- projects or libre softwares presentations
- workshop animations (development, initiation, ... )
To propose to the public a rich and various content, please send your
propositons, suggestions and ideas before February 8th to appel2008 at
rmll.info

Unfortunately this is not what my experience is. A lot of users are
disappointed if you tell them that they are on their own since the
software is experimental.

At this moment the project's strategy is to get a release out ASAP with
support for the devices of cooperative vendors. The idea is that it's
too cumbersome to support devices we don't have access to. Having a
released will hopefully accelerate vendor support for us. Unfortunately
for you Presonus is not on the 'supportive vendors' list yet.

Judging from the output, the firebox doesn't support the standardized
method of selecting the sync source. Which is very unfortunate since
that means we need info from presonus to figure out how it should be done.
What might work is that you have a valid spdif source connected before
you start jack, or maybe before you power up the firebox. It might
auto-select SPDIF when there's a valid signal. I know the quatafire
works like this.

The settings and configuration part of ffado is the section that needs
the vendor support the most. It's sort off a chicken and egg problem. As
I mentioned before, our current strategy is to focus on devices that we
have access to, in order to get things moving. FFADO might (partially)
work with other devices since it's designed to be as broad as possible.
But it might not, and then you're sort-off on your own. On the long run
things should resolve themselves. The best thing you can do is harass
the vendors a bit such that they realize (think?) we're not a bunch of
insignificant freaks. I've been advising strategy this a lot over the
last year and I'm starting to see the results of that.
Getting a decent (released) version is a real priority since I'll
probably be visiting the Musikmesse in Frankfurt again this year, and I
really want to have something solid there. Face-to-face communication
with the vendors should work better than email.
Greets,
Pieter
Version 1.0 of Minicomputer softwaresynthesizer for Linux is now
available under GPL 3.
It is a standalone application which can be interfaced with Midi and
generate electronic sounds in realtime through Jack.
It can produce 8 different sounds at once but each is monophonic.
Although its a subtractive synthesizer, no existing hardware is emulated
and the sound is synthetic, don't expect a piano from this. Each voice
features 2 oscillators going into a morphing formant filter and a
flexible routing with loads of modulators which can go into audio range.
Everything is calculated sample accurate so it take its share from the CPU.
I am going to show it at the clubnight at LAC in Cologne next week and
demo it in March at the Musik Messe in Frankfurt.
Website inclusive sounddemos and manual is at

Malte

Hi everyone,
I have recently been thinking about going to linux on my DAW. I currently
use fruity loops and run a winxp pro sp2, with a bunch of VST.
There have been a couple of issues which made me try to seek another O/S for
my audio. Number one is that I like to run a lot of VST, and
I also like to have my project from sequencing to pre mastering all in one
project. This, of course means a lot of CPU since i try to do as much
as possible without rendering it to .wav and back, since this takes time,
especially for little changes when mixing. Another issue is the
windows 2gig ram application limit. I hit this a couple of times and was
left in a dead end as to what to do. Vista is probably out of the option
right
now since I hate how much garbage is in there and how much cpu it needs just
to run. So I am thinking to switching to linux, but would like to
ask a couple of question. If someone can spare a couple of minutes and pass
your opinion on these subjects/questions, i would appreciate it very much.
1) How is VST adaptors for linux? I was reading there a couple of them. Has
anyone had trouble with them?
2) I assume linux is a lot better with RAM than windows, and was curious if
there are any people who are on this list
that actually switched over and could tell me if they really could "do" a
lot more in linux with the same hardware specs than in windows.
Does linux have some sort of application RAM limit?
3) What is everyone's favority sequencer for linux? I know there are a
couple of them. Which one is your favorite?
4) I have never used linux before. Would it be better for me to install
linux first and after im comfortable try audio on it?
5) I assume there are DirectX adaptor also. Correct?
6) Audio drivers? I currently own the t.c. electronic konnekt8 audio
interface and going from whats on the website they
dont have linux drivers? Could i use AISO4ALL? I used those drivers on
windows with no problems before, anyone have
any problems with them on linux?
I guess this is all for now. There are many more questions which i have, but
i will do the research for those. If someone can also
point em to some good resources on the web on linux audio i would def
appreciate it.
Thanks
Mike
