What happened to the soundfont editor SFUBAR? The webpage for the developer appears to be no longer in service. Google hasn't turned up any alternate sources for the code. Anyone have it around somewhere, or know where it might be archived? -ken

[LAU] controlling LADSPA plugins whith a midi pedal ?

hello, Being fed up with controlling LADSPA plugins with the mouse (i have only 2 arms on the piano already..) I wondered if i could buy at least one midi pedal an control one of the parameter of a ladspa plugin (inserted in jack-rack or OM f.i.) with it. I heard OM is controllable with OSC but i know nothing of it. have one of you any experience/links ont that topic ? - thanks in advance.

[LAU] Linux guitar amplifier simulator

Hey guys, I just installed Ubuntu with a RT kernel addon and I'm doing my first forays into the OS. I've been a long time windows user but I figured I'd change to linux for a new perspective. On windows, I run a line6 guitar port for my guitar amplification needs. Unfortunately, the Line6 Linux software project does not support the Guitar Port. Luckily, I have a Tascam US122 with a HighZ input that I can plug my guitar into. I was just wondering what software was available to me for guitar amp simulation? Is there a guide that explains what to do? So far, google hasn't very helpful, my searches lead me to a guitar that's actually being converted into a LINUX GUITAR. Anyways, thanks -Chris

The hb.gif file (in this message) shows various chords, of the selected type, in the various modes. In Jazz++ I could click on the chord names in the boxes and get to hear what they sound like. -- Kevin

[LAU] Harmony Tool for Composition (part 1 of 2)

Almost a decade ago I was using Jazz++ for my MIDI sequencer and composition tool. That project rolls over in its grave from time to time, but I consider it dead. I've been very happily using Rosegarden4 for everything that Jazz++ used to do for me, almost, and I like Rosegarden4 much better. Now for the "almost" issue. Jazz++ has a feature which it called a "harmony browser" which allowed me (a drummer) to explore chord structure and musical modes when writing a tune. I haven't found anything else that has this ability. Maybe one of you knows something about this? I don't know if it's OK to attach pictures or not, but they're really tiny so I'll take a chance. The hbtoolb.gif file shows how Jazz++ allowed me to select which types of chords I wanted to explore by clicking the gray boxes near the top of the window. [LAU] Linux Audio Conference 2008: Registration now open

Dear all, The Linux Audio Conference 2008 in Cologne (Feb 28th - Mar 2nd 2008) is just one month away now. The programme is shaping up, concerts are being organized and coffee is about to be ordered. [LAU] capturing spoken text -- alsa settings

I am running Dragon NaturallySpeaking on Linux through WINE. One of the benefits to doing so is that you can tinker with the sound settings using ALSA mixer. I would like to tweak it to give the maximum amount of sensitivity to the range of the spoken human voice. So far: front mike = 67 mike = 61 l/r capture = 61 digital = 63 gives pretty good results. Any ideas? Plugins to install? Web page with helpful hints? Thanks

Hi, I'm using Debian testing with fluxbox. I often wants to start several programs to make music... For example: jack + jack-rack or jack + jack-rack + ardour2 + hydrogen. How can I make a script to start several programs in a particular order, with the right jack/alsa/midi settings? Are there scripts available? I would really prefer Alsa Modular to build a guit-amp. Why? 1.) Guitars send mono-signals, working with stereo-input is not that comfortable in AMS so this disadvantage of AMS does not apply here. 2.) AMS gives you much more control to the parameters of the plugins: 2.1.) You can set up a selection of parameters in parameter view and store presets for this selection. 2.2.) you can link virtually any parameter to a MIDI-controller, so you can plug a generic-MIDI controller (be it a pedal, a keyboard with controller knobs etc) 3.) you have much more control over the routing of the signal amongst the plugins, even side chain-stuff is thinkable.
