Hi,
I'm struggling to get effects for my guitar using jack-rack. With or without jack-rack seems not to matter... same sound...
* qjackctl: seems to work ok.
* setup:
-realtime
- monitor
- priority = 0
- frames/ period = 64
- interface = hw: 0,0
- Dither = none
- audio = duplex
- input/ output device = default
driver:alsa
* JAck-rack:
I just load a *.rack file.
* Jack-connect:
system>>> jack-rack
jack-rack>>> system: playback
* I'm loading 2nd_seq in /etc/modules
* I put my guitar in Mic In.
How should I set the alsamixer settings? I can't put up the capture level in alsamixergui, is that normal?
Thanks in advance,
Dirk

i bought an ARTiGO for my audio work
this is a Pico-ITX machine which has VT1708 as its audio chip
yes the trouble making HD-Audio type
searching lots of sited talled me that i should find out the proper
"options snd-hda-intel model=WHAT_I_WANT_TO_KNOW"
in my /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
some sites even tell me how to find out but that didn't work for this VT1708
does somebody already have an answer?
cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec
says:
Codec: VIA VIA VT1708
aplay -l
says:
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: VT82xx [HDA VIA VT82xx], device 0: VT1708 Analog [VT1708 Analog]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: VT82xx [HDA VIA VT82xx], device 1: VT1708 Digital [VT1708 Digital]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
i now have UbuntuHardyAlpha4 installed
and ALSA works kind of beautiful
but Jack doesn't make sound even though jackd and apps doesn't blame me anything
alsamixer comes out in a kind of no PCM detedted(?) way
the fader is there but there isn't 00 nor MM appearing under "PCM"

re: Google AdSense
AFAIK you can plug your site (ie. content) but you can't encourage clicks on ads and they DO check up on that.

just a quick one....
i know this pops ups from time to time but....
Has anyone worked out a neat way to get firefox (flash, youtube, real audio,
etc) working with Jack yet. i would love to have a situation where i could
have Jack running permanently but this is the one thing preventing me.
cheers,
Thanks everyone for the great advice on AdSense!
I went ahead and did it. It took 10 minutes, easy.
Most of the ad inserts into my blog are for TiVo's, for some reason I can't figure.
Can I plug my site now without violating AdSense terms of service? They're pretty strange-- I can't encourage clicks on ads? I guess that's good though; it doesn't get in the way.
It's here for the curious: http://www.restivo.org/blog/

Please don't advertise using ffado towards unexperienced users. We can't
cope with the RTFM type of support that would generate. FFADO is
currently only for users that already sort-of know what they are doing,
and who we don't have to help setting up their system.
Keep in mind that all time spent on support is not spent on development.
Greets,
Pieter
Probably this should have gone to the list...

Actually I don't really remember. Its been some days since I last did this.
Why don't you just try it? :-)

Yep, that is a valid usability problem for a released package. But wait a
minute: ffado is not a released package!
To be short: There are plans to incorporate these controls into the
ffadomixer. And to have three kinds of things in ffadomixer: the special
mixer-gui for a device (if it exists), a generic gui for the found controls
(but without the assurance that these do anything on the device) and the
generic controls for clock-source, etc.
But as there is only 24 hours a day available, this will take some time and
maybe this will only come in the 2.1-release... but ppalmers is more of an
authority to state these things...

Anyone here used Google AdSense on their blogs?
Or made any money with it? Been embarassed by it?
I'm hitting some rough financial straits these days, and I'm looking for any possible way of scratching up some money. Seems like AdSense can't hurt, but I don't know. I figured I'd ask fellow Linux and Free Software users if they've had any problems or successes with it.
