Hi Pablo,
Apparently, it works!
I have the exact same USB port 'Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series
Chipset USB2 Enhanced Host Controller (rev 05)'
and I never managed to run the UA-25Ex in full duplex until...today
for the first time!
(please note that I was using this patch as well
https://gist.github.com/1168715 for another
USB soundcard, but I believe now this is not what fixed the problem).

Say you have a poem and I have a tune.
Exchange them and we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song.
Hello everyone!
Today I've made up and recorded a new piece. Just piano. It's no Bach and
it's no prog rock. No fancy overboard processing either. The piece is called
"whisper - Since In Love, Verity Is Altering". It's a piece about decisions
and changing and importance of a human being.
http://juliencoder.de/nama/whisper.ogghttp://juliencoder.de/nama/whisper.mp3
Or go to the website:
http://juliencoder.de/nama/music.html
Equipment used: LinuxSampler and my Sampletekk black Grand piano library,
the new Nama version for recording and finalising, fons' FIL plugin for some
light EQing and jconvolver for the reverb. I do'nt know, which reverb that is.
It was the one I last used for Shout. I'm not sure, if I made a note on that.
It sounded good though. :-)
I hope you enjoy it and as ever; Comments are welcome, the good and the bad.
Warm regards
Julien

Hi!
Just wanted to check whether someone used that device here, and could
confirm me that it's using usual usb midi, and so is perfectly suitable
for a use with ALSAseq?
Thanks a lot.

Hi all,
I’m trying to configure a pc with puredyne 9.11 and 2 RME HDSPM soundcards[1]. I manage to get sound perfectly, and I also managed to merge the two sound cards into one using .asoundrc. My problem is that the cards are identical and at every boot they get a random order. I was trying to follow [2] to try to give them a name based on the hardware location of the pci cards.
I created a file which I placed in /etc/udev/rules.d/85-wfs-script.rules with the following:
SUBSYSTEM!="sound", GOTO="wfs_pci_cards"
ACTION!="add", GOTO="wfs_pci_cards"
DEVPATH=="/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.4/0000:02:0e.0/sound/card?", ATTR{id}="HDSPM_1"
DEVPATH=="/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.4/0000:02:09.0/sound/card?", ATTR{id}="HDSPM_2"
LABEL="wfs_pci_cards"
Then when I reboot or reload the driver I get one of them with the correct name and the other one with “default”
/proc/asound/cards
0 [default ]: HDSPM - HDSPM MADI
RME HDSPM MADI at 0xfdce0000, irq 16
1 [HDSPM_1 ]: HDSPM - HDSPM MADI
RME HDSPM MADI at 0xfdcd0000, irq 17
Which one gets the “default” name is random and changes every time I boot. I tried changing the number 85 to all sorts of numbers, to change the order in which the rule is run, but it doesn’t really make a difference. Running udevd --debug and reloading the driver reports :
1323357358.505334 [3088] udev_rules_apply_to_event: ATTR '/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.4/0000:02:09.0/sound/card0/id' writing 'HDSPM_2' /etc/udev/rules.d/90-wfs-pci-cards.rules:5
1323357358.505393 [3088] udev_rules_apply_to_event: error opening ATTR{/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.4/0000:02:09.0/sound/card0/id} for writing: No such file or directory
Btw, the file is there, and doing "more /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.4/0000:02:09.0/sound/card0/id” yields “default” or “default_1”.
How can I stop the “default” name overriding the names that I set in the .rules file ? Any help appreciated !!!!
best regards,

Hello everyone!
I'd like to design a simple CD-booklet. I'm not yet sure, if it will even be
made public, the way I intend it to be, but perhaps it might.
Since I can't do this on my own and can't afford a normal design-person to
do it, I wondered if one of you might help. I could offer up to perhaps 30-40
EUR or some other favour in return (check website for accessibility, play keys
for a track...).
The basic design ideas are these, just so you know, the skills and perhaps
tools required: Have a photo on the cover (rescaling?) and the title in fancy
printing, perhaps hand drawn. Then inside just have a photo on one page and
text on the next page. Something like this. the result should be a PDF - or
other widely accepted format, that I can have printed in a copy shop or at a
small printer's. Anyone willing to assist me in this endevour?
Thanks in any case for reading up to this point.
Kindest regards
Julien

Hello all,
First release of zita-dpl1. Look-ahead digital peak limiter.
1-16 channels (highest one determines gain reduction).

"How to use Nokia N9 as music production tool - encoding your
sequencer's tracks with Dolby Headphone using the Nokia N9"
I found the following gem:
...............
gst-launch filesrc location=input.wav ! decodebin ! nokiadhmmix !
wavenc ! filesink location=output.wav

~ $ gst-inspect-0.10 | grep mix
pulseaudio: pulsemixer: PulseAudio Mixer
nokiadhmmix: nokiadhmmix: Dolby Headphones Mobile mixer
videomixer: videomixer2: Video mixer 2
videomixer: videomixer: Video mixer
..................
Anybody know whether this can be used to be able to mix and position
soundsources in the headphones and how effective it is? Seems like it
would significantly offload CPU in music apps on the handset if they
could use the DSP to do some rudimentary mixing, unless you have to
waste a bunch of CPU packing separate audio streams into a single
multichannel just to get it mixed back to stereo via the DSP....

Hello everyone!
For one of my users I wish to insert a few ladspa plugins for the
microphone, but if at all possible not for the output, since then everything
will get evilly distorted and fiendishly loud. I have the basic setup for the
plugins, but I can't think of a way to only insert the plugins for inputs. All
inputs of that card will do, since only the microphone will be in use.
Unfortunately I can't raise the mic volume from the hardware any more and
neither does the phone application have any additional volume control, that I
can see.
Does anyone have a good suggestion or two?
Warm regards
Julien
