Hey all,
I've downloaded one of the demo recordings for ambisonic playback (
soundofspace.com/ambisonic_files/41)
Its a .ua file, which is wavpack's standard ambisonic audio file type..
AFAIK.
I'm trying to play it back (into AmbDec) but VLC only shows one channel,
Ardour won't import it, and other players
that supposedly do support wavpack (QuodLibet) doesn't recognize it at all.
Do i need to uncompress it before playback or whats the deal here?
Cheers, -Harry
Hey, all,
I'm having a shot at controling csound with midi in real-time; I tried
this many years ago and never succeeded then.
As a starting point, I found and downloaded this excellent and well
documented example: http://tx0.org/1m0
I have edited my CSOptions to look like this:
-odac -+rtaudio=jack -b200 -M hw:1,0 -+rtmidi=alsa
The orchestra compiles without any errors, but then exits immediately,
rather than hanging for an hour, waiting for events, as one would
expect. I've looked around, but so far, no luck. Has anybody any idea
what might be amiss, or could any one point me to an ecample known to
work under linux/csound 5.12?
Cheers,
S.M.

Hi, I've written a small program (Leevi is its name) to drive Lexicon
MX300, similar console what Lexicon ships for Windows operating system
along with their devices. Leevi supports Linux and BSD, and needs
either libusb-0 or libusb-1. It does not require any user interface
libraries, as everything is built on libX11, so if you can boot to
runlevel 5, you can run Leevi.
Please note: As Lexicon wasn't very keen to tell me how to talk with
their devices, USB protocol is reverse engineered by me and there are
myriad of things that I haven't yet revealed. Although Leevi is proven
to work without breaking anything, there is always a small change that
something goes wrong. Therefore I don't take any responsibility, you
use Leevi at your own risk. Check BSD License in Leevi's homepage.
Leevi is yet in development stage, changing effect in stereo mode and
changing routing to/from stereo does not yet work. All other features
should be fully functional.

hi there,
There is an application, although not LV2 or ladspa ~ it's called
"Tranches" that is designed for stuttering. It is a standalone (jack)
app, it can also be controlled via Midi. It's the best
beat-slicing/stutter plugin (in my opinion) that i have used so far,
for linux.
I don't think the newest version is available yet (which is way
cooler, i've tested it out), but the old version seems to be stable
and works nicely. It works similar to the same type of stuttering
found in the Kaoss pad.
here's the link:

Hello!
Do you guys know of any stutter-plugin for Linux? Stuttering is pretty easy
to do by just trimming the regions but it takes an awful lot of time, so a
plugin would be of real ease! Is this anything that's availible?
Regards!

Back in January you may remember Sim laid down the setup for the Open
Source Musician Tunestorm 04 Uncompetition
<http://lists.linuxaudio.org/pipermail/linux-audio-user/2011-January/075417.…>.
I'm here to share the results with those that may not have heard the live
broadcast, or listened to the subsequent podcast.
Just to recap:
Tunestorming is an uncompetition. Each participant creates their own music
to the same broad guidelines, until the grand submission date when we
each show and tell what we did. Tunestorm 04 was sample-based, whereby
all participants started with the same sample provided by Sim, and built a
creation incorporating the given sample.
In order of submission date, the participants and their results are below,
with the original sample that started it all. The links are direct
downloads of the pieces in the format they were originally uploaded to
Soundcloud (some flac, some ogg). If for some reason you prefer to stream
a tune or want more info, drop "download" off the end of the link.

pneuman - pulse
http://soundcloud.com/pneuman/pulse/download
pneuman's comment: Track recorded quickly for the Open Source Musicians
Tunestorm04 challenge. The only sound in here is the original sample; I
chopped and looped it in Specimen, ran it through some distortion effects,
and then in to PHASEX for filtering (controlled by a Korg nanoKONTROL) and
then through some more effects (chorus/delay). Recorded and mixed in
Ardour.
Stuzz - Ass In, Ass Out

Stuzz's comment: For Tunestorm 04. The sample was shoved into specimen and
then looped over a small portion to create the monotonous drone. The rest
is bits and pieces thrown together to make the monotonous slightly less
so. Recorded with Ardour3.
falkTX - Claudia
http://soundcloud.com/falktx/claudia-3/download
falkTX's comment: The sample is used for the kick and bass. Piano sound
generated by linuxsampler (maestro_concert_grand_v2.gig), using
non-sequencer for the notes. Beat done in Renoise, with using some basic
ladspa effects.

Hi all.
Is there any multiband filter, which can accept midi notes and create new filter for each note, using (e.g.) volume for gain, note for frequency, velocity... ^^, for width.
Currently i'm able only to load row of bandpass filters and route signal to them independently, than mix (sure, tools like ingen are best host in this case).
