Hi Jeremy,
I think i took it from your PPA :-)
http://ppa.launchpad.net/autostatic/ppa/ubuntu
It's the last one version i suppose...
thanks

I agree. I know drummers who can play like that.
BTW Ken, Nice live sound considering it was sequenced. I like the feel of
that track. Reminds me of being in a bar with a killer band just getting
underway. Speaks of good things to come. I hope you do more in that
direction. Would be a nice progression from your syncopated ouvre.
Cheers

Hi, everyone.I'm here to get some troubleshooting from you.
I installed ffado and jack on Archlinux, but I can't get it working
properly.
About my system:
- Thinkpad x201i(Intel i3-380m and 8G memory)
- Echo Audiofire2 (connected via expresscard)
- Archlinux 64bit
- 2.6.39 kernel (BFS patched)
- installed libffado 2.0.1-3 (svn version from aur) and jack 1.9.5-1
- configured to the advice from the script
realtimeconfigquickscan(except the realtime kernel and 1000hz clock part)
- running rtirq daemon. configured as below....
RTIRQ_NAME_LIST="rtc firewire_ohci ehci_hcd:usb1 ehci_hcd:usb2 i8042"
RTIRQ_NON_THREADED="rtc"
Symtoms:
- ffado and jack work for some time(about 30 seconds?) then freeze.
detailed process...
Arch starts
turn qjackctl on
start other audio apps (tested with hydrogen and qsynth)
Seems working well
After some time, all sounds stop and transport doesn't roll
When I close other apps and press stop button on qjackctl, it displays
'stopping...' and nothing more. here's jacks messages after the stop
button pressed.
00:45:53.378 JACK is stopping...

... and no more. it just holds here.
- But ffado and jack work just nicely not freezing in extremely rare
cases (with no xruns)
I wanted to check messages from ffado too, but I don't know how.
Can anyone give me a likely solution to this problem? Or any more
information needed?
Thanks in advance!
Hello everyone
It is with great pleasure that I announce the release of the Taijiguy
GigaTron, a Mellotron sample set in Giga format.
The set is very kindly being hosted by the Linuxsampler team and can be
found here:
http://www.linuxsampler.org/instruments.html
The samples were made by Bernie Kornowicz (aka taijiguy on the KVR Audio
forums). The samples were recorded over a number of years and are freely
available from taijiguy's site[1].
Some of these samples were packaged in SFZ format with his permission a
couple of years ago[2]. Other KVR members have packaged the samples in
Kontakt and other formats[3].
With Bernie's kind permission, I packaged the samples into Giga format
using Linuxsampler's Gigedit. As the samples are his copyright and I
have merely packaged them, the Giga file cannot be released under any
sort of free licence, but is (and must remain) free of charge.
Each note of each sound is individually sampled, with no looping, in
order to preserve the essence of the Tron. A low-pass filter is mapped
to the modwheel to emulate the Mellotron's tone control. The Giga file
is keyswitched to allow fast selection of the different sounds:
"M400 Violins" -- EQ'd Mk II Violins
"M400 Violins Yes EQ" -- EQ'd Mk II Violins
"M400 Violins Smooth Ryder EQ" -- EQ'd Mk II Violins
Cello
String Section
Mk II Violins
M300A (violins)
M300B (solo violin)
Mk II Brass
GC3 Brass
Mk II Flute
Woodwind2
Combined Choir
My thanks go to taijiguy for his wonderful samples, for sharing them and
for his kind permission to package them; to the Linuxsampler team for
the wonderful software, for fixing a libgig bug that was hindering
me, not to mention also for generously hosting the Giga file; to Ryder
Duncan for his perseverance in trying to replicate the fantastic sound
of the M400 Three Violins[4]; to the developers and maintainers of a
number of Linux audio apps which I've made use of in the production of
this sample set.
Finally, for assistance with road testing, thanks go to my tame keyboard
player: some say he gets violent when not surrounded on three sides by
synths and that he can transmit midi control changes using telepathy...
all I know is, he's called Julien ;-) A technical demo of the sounds is
on the LinuxSampler website, but a musical demo of many of the sounds
can be found here:

Enjoy.

any body willing to help me out in san francisco?
the project is to set up a recording and sequencing
system for scratch (semi-pro-quality) recording.
i'm an out of work musician but none-the-less
willing to pay money.
problems include:
* determine the right computer to buy
for example: buy a tower or a laptop or both? if a
tower, what expansion cards to buy?
* determine what software to use
* determine i/o and other hardware
* how to drive a roland X10, other roland digital
keyboard?
what other external hardware to buy? drum machine?
other music instrument hardware? (i like having
instrument voices in external hardware so's not to
burden the CPU of the computer running recording or
sequencing software.)
* use existing pro-tools recordings on the new linux
system
hopefully,
jim
PS: music store people i've talked to have no clue about
linux stuff.
i have read reviews and other online info and cannot find
what i need: specifics to put a small, basic system
together (what CPU speed, RAM, storage... to buy; is there
reasonably good quality recording or sound generation or
audio playback stuff in expansion card form that works
with linux; are there necessary drivers or libraries that
are not obvious to someone new to setting up these systems;
what are the solutions to problems that typically come
with the specific hardware and software components...?).
Does anybody know of a (free as in beer) giga, sf2, pat, kontakt, akai, csound, or even raw samples of a bouzouki? I've been looking, but from here I can only find a commercial product for about 170 euros - which is way beyond our budget for the 10 seconds or so that we need.

"It looks like XFCE will be the 'next Gnome2? ... It looks better then
in the past and it seems to be pretty comparable with Gnome2. It seems
to be a possible to remove pulseaudio from Xubuntu. And of course you
can install Fluxbox together with it (I prefer fluxbox also myself ;) )"
There should be Linux audio apps, that need GTK2 libs.
When I need to switch from KDE3 to GNOME2 I needed to change my work
flow, but there wasn't a loss off apps. IIUC when they stop GNOME2,
we'll lose apps, regarding to GTK2 libs that should be needed.
An Ubuntu Studio coder already rewrites an app.
XFCE isn't a GNOME2 successor, at least not for me, since GNOME2 is my
KDE3 successor. I lower my sight when switching from KDE3 to GNOME2 and
doing the same from GNOME2 to XFCE would cause to lower the sight again.
When will XFCE became an update that makes it similar to Microsoft and
Apple? How often should we switch the DE?
