Hi, The problem i have was already posted on the Muse Forum. As this seems to be a low-traffic forum and perhaps i am too impatient, i was hoping that i could find some help here. This is my question: we are trying to connect 2 computers, one running Csound and the other running Muse. Syncing will be done with JackTransport.: Csound sends the jacktransport code and Muse on the other machine is the slave. I have written an article on the subject how this can be achieved: https://github.com/kunstmusik/blue/wiki/The-Blue-Connection We have chosen Muse because there is a nice button, called "Jack" in the transport window of Muse, so it is easy to disconnect from the master (Csound) and do things independently. Later you can connect back in with this "Jack" button. Since a few weeks i am not capable to start Muse anymore on the slave machine. On the master machine, with the same system running, Muse works. There is no error shown, it just stops and hangs: Config File </home/menno/.config/MusE/MusE.cfg> no locale <muse_nl_NL>/</usr/share/muse/locale> LOCALE nl_NL open projectfile: No such file or directory Denormal protection enabled. First of all, deepest sympathy to everyone affected by the killings in Paris. Remembering not to be put astray by emotional waves, remain true. This one is mostly acoustic guitars and bass. Some mellow synths. Simple melody. Dates from last year, revisited and remixed yesterday. This time a 'clean bus' was used in Ardour 4.4 to which all unmodified tracks were routed so that it was possible to quickly compare the addition of EQ and reverb to the original sounds. Robin Gareus 4-band EQ was used on all tracks including master track. Overtone RVB-500 reverb was used on master track only.

How to have audio w/o jackd ?

Hello, I have to be able to have audio after terminating jackd. Everything works fine when jackd is present, xine, firefox, audio apps, etc. When jackd is gone, no more audio. Taking xine as an example, pavucontrol will show the output when it plays a video and will show that the output goes to the onboard audio. If I choose the 1010LT card, then xine freezes. Envy24 utility shows nothing. I would like to be able to view, and hear, downloaded video clips without jackd around. Why ? Because the current bitwig has a bug in which jackd MIDI does not work. This translates has having sound, but no MIDI from external controllers. OTOH, if bitwig switches to ALSA then there's MIDI but no sound until jackd goes away. The goal is to follow bitwig tutorials. There must be a way for audio apps to be able to output sound on the 1010LT without jack...

OT Acoustic Design of Rooms

Friends I have the opportunity to remodel a large part of my house. I will be creating a large room (about 100 square metres) and I have a lot of control for how I lay it out. One side is a hundred tonne rock wall and I will not be moving that, but I have a free hand for the rest of the space. Where do I go to get information for how to best design the space for acoustics? For performance and recording of amplified music? I am pleased to announce availability of a competitive ICAT graduate research assistantship starting with the academic year 2016-7. We are specifically looking for students who are interested in studying in the newfound Human-Centered Design (HCD) transdisciplinary individualized PhD and/or Computer Science's Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). We are also willing to consider Masters level applicants to the CS program with focus on HCI. HCD Option Virginia Tech's new individualized Human-Centered Design (HCD) iPhD transdisciplinary degree is closely aligned with the newfound Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology (ICAT). iPhD is a degree designed primarily to support individually tailored PhD experiences, allowing students to actively participate in shaping their plan of study. CS HCI Option The graduate program in the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech is on its way to becoming one of the top programs in the country. The resources and facilities for research areas such as human-computer interaction, bioinformatics, and high-end computing are state of the art, and the growing list of specialized masters and doctoral degrees in a variety of areas provides opportunities for students to concentrate their research and study on the specific aspects of computer science in which they are most interested. At Virginia Tech, students receive firsthand instruction by award-winning faculty. In the computer science department, that means that graduate students have the opportunity to learn from the professors who have helped to define today's computer industry. The Center for Human-Computer Interaction is a part of ICAT, offering a diverse infrastructure and human expertise for cutting-edge research. The GAship in question seeks candidates with a solid research background, and a strong sense of independence and self-sufficiency. We are particularly seeking students interested in sonification, sound spatialization, and interactive technologies (e.g. mind-body technologies, laptop/mobile ensembles, hyperinstruments, installations, mobile/wearable computing, etc.). Candidates must possess a strong knowledge of Max and Pd/Pd-L2Ork programming environments. C/C++ programming (or equivalent) is also preferred, as well as skills in other domains (e.g. interactive multimedia, K-12 education, 3D animation, etc.). This is a renewable assistantship with a full tuition waiver and a stipend. To be eligible candidates need to apply, be accepted, and enroll in the new HCD iPhD or the Human-Computer Interaction Computer Science program with primary focus in the computer music domain focusing on one or more of the aforesaid areas of interest.
