The trick may be to disable sending note off events, or keeping note off
events but increasing the "Note duration" setting above the default 10 ticks.
Both settings are on menu "Settings"->"Configure KMetronome", or
using the
"Settings" button on the main window.
Please try a "modern" KMetronome release, latest is 0.10.0 published on
2010-06-06.

so, which metronome gui-app do you use... if any?
kmetronome, when I don't have a HW-one at hand. It's tons of free non-
soundfont wave forms, so don't let that stop you. :-)

Thanks Jostein, but I think there is a misunderstanding here. KMetronome only
sends MIDI events, it doesn't provide wave forms by itself. It depends on your
MIDI synthesizer (that may be QSynth/FluidSynth, of course).
