Ambient@40: Call for Proposals Deadline Jan 12

*Call for Proposals* Deadline: 17.00 (GMT), Friday 12th January 2018. In the forty years since the release of Brian Eno’s *Music for Airports *the concept and aesthetics of ambient music have proliferated, influencing artists as diverse as Taylor Deupree, Steven Wilson, David Lynch and The Orb, infusing drone, microsound, minimalism and experimental electronic music as well as aspects of contemporary instrumental music. The aim of this two-day conference is to re-appraise ambient music in relation to Eno’s milestone release. Ambient@40 will be hosted in the newly opened Oastler Building at the University of Huddersfield from Friday 23rd to Saturday 24th February. The programme committee invites proposals for: 1. individual papers (20 minute presentation with 10 minutes for questions and discussion); 2. performance and paper (10 minute per performance, 10 minute presentation with 10 minutes for questions). The committee welcomes proposals from academics, independent scholars, research students and practitioners. The conference will run alongside the Electric Spring Festival ( www.electricspring.co.uk) and an evening concert on Saturday 24th February at the Festival will close the conference. The program committee will also invite a selection of those giving papers to write them up in the months following the conference (deadline June 2018) as book chapters for publication in late 2018 / early 2019. *Submission and selection process* All proposals should be submitted to Prof. Monty Adkins (m.adkins(a)hud.ac.uk) by the deadline, Friday 12th January 2018 (17.00, GMT). Individual paper submissions should include an abstract (350 words) and an author biography (200 words). Performance and paper submissions should include a brief overview of the audio presentation including technical resources required (300 words), links to online samples of audio work, an abstract (350 words) and an author biography (200 words). The committee aims to notify proposal authors of its decision by Friday 19th January 2018. Those selected will be asked to confirm their acceptance and technical setup. The full programme will be announced online and booking opened on Monday 22nd January 2018. NIME is a gathering of researchers, designers, musicians, who come together to share knowledge, perform music, and build community through research presentations, concerts, installations, and workshops. On behalf of the 2018 NIME Committee I am pleased to announce that the NIME 2018 "Mirrored Resonances" Conference call for submissions is now officially open! Co-organized between Virginia Tech and the University of Virginia, the conference will take place June 3-6, 2018 in Blacksburg, Virginia. We welcome submissions of papers, posters, panels, musical performances, installations, demos, and workshops, particularly those that may respond to the overarching conference theme of “Mirrored Resonances” and its thematic areas in any of the many ways they might be interpreted. Likewise, we encourage potential participants to consider exploring the unique Virginia Tech facilities, including the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology’s Cube with a massive high density loudspeaker array. From the NEWS file: Changes: Documentation Overhaul. The Rivendell Operations Guide has been expanded and incorporated as part of the base Rivendell source in 'docs/opsguide'. Most of text notes previously located in 'docs/' added as appendices. Remaining unconverted text notes can now be found in 'docs/misc/'. Group Cut Expiration Policy. Added the ability to set a default End Date/Time for new cuts on a per-group basis. See the 'Set End Date/Time' control in RDAdmin->ManageGroups. Host Short Name. Added a 'Short Name' parameter to Host profiles. Macro Carts. It is now possible to use filepath wildcards in macro carts. New Host Wildcards. Changed music and traffic importation so that parent link events are still visible in linked logs. Web API Changes. Added 'FILTER' and 'RECENT' call parameters to the 'ListLogs' Web API call. Vee One Suite 0.8.6 - The End of Autumn'17 release

Wholly greetings! The 'Vee One Suite' of so called 'old-school' software instruments, synthv1 [1] as a polyphonic subtractive synthesizer, samplv1 [2] a polyphonic sampler synthesizer, drumkv1 [3] as yet another drum-kit sampler and padthv1 [4] as a polyphonic additive synthesizer, are here released just in time for the merry season greetings. As before, all available in dual standard forms:<ul> - a pure stand-alone JACK client with JACK-session [5], NSM (Non Session management [6]) and both JACK MIDI and ALSA MIDI [7] input support; - a LV2 instrument plug-in [8]. The almost common change-log for this end-of-season follows: - Sync option added to DCO wavetable oscillators, as for making either one to hard-sync (slave) with the other one (master) in each pair. (applies to synthv1 [1] only) - Micro-fade-in/out that were stapled at the loop start/end points respectively is now gone.(applies to samplv1 [2] only) - Set on a minimum attack time of 500usec as much to prevent audible clicking on low-pitched notes. QMidiArp-0.6.5 maintenance release

Dear all, here is QMidiArp 0.6.5. Another year has passed, and qmidiarp again only slightly changes, improves, adapts itself. A few more factory patterns were added to the Arpeggiator, a new "As Played" repeat mode has sneaked in, and for making things easier the MIDI OMNI mode is now default when modules are added. QMidiArp also builds against Qt5 by default now (it's about time ;) ), no more --enable-qt5 needed at configure stage. Enjoy! Frank -------------- Here is the full changelog: qmidiarp-0.6.5 (2017-12-17) *Improvements* o MIDI OMNI Mode receiving on all MIDI channels is now available and even default for all modules. o Arp: Some more 'factory' patterns added to the LV2 presets and to the .qmidiarprc file. Latter requires deleting the original one in the home directory and launching the standalone application. o Arp: New pattern repeat mode "As Played" for following the played note order instead of reorganizing them up, down or random. o Arp: For deliberately clearing buffered incoming notes the modules now all react to ALL_NOTES_OFF and ALL_SOUND_OFF MIDI messages. o LV2: The DSP ("generic") parameter interface has gotten some improvements for better usability (thanks Holger Wirtz for input on this) *Fixed Bugs* o LV2: Latch mode was not working properly when using release function. o LV2 Arp: when running with host transport sync, transport start caused received notes to be cleared. This also cleared those notes received before the transport was starting and led to missed notes especially in qtractor. This should work better now. (Thanks to Webmadman for reporting, and to Rui). o Seq and LFO: the "Note Off" option had no effect (regression). o Recent Files menu in main app displayed extra characters with Qt5. *General changes* o Building against Qt5 is now default. No more --enable-qt5 needed. o LV2: Category set to MIDIPlugin instead of Instrument o The DSP classes including the LV2 DSP modules no longer use Qt libraries.
