[LAA] ANN: New version of Pd-L2Ork Software Featured in the Inaugural VT ICAT Maker Workshop for Middle-School Kids

Apologies for x-posting... It's been a busy summer--pd-l2ork <http://l2ork.music.vt.edu/main/?page_id=56>has been making big strides towards becoming a robust full-fledged digital signal processing tool. The latest version includes revolutionary preset_hub and preset_node system that supports a wide range of data types as well as abstractions. It is essentially Pd's counterpart toMax's pattrstorage <http://cycling74.com/docs/max5/refpages/max-ref/pattrstorage.html>. We've also squashed dozens of bugs and clean-ups making pd-l2ork better than ever. Perhaps the most exciting improvement involves Pd-L2Ork'sK12 module <http://l2ork.music.vt.edu/main/?p=1964>geared towards elementary, middle, and high school students. The new version has over 40 objects/abstractions, allowing students to seamlessly interact with both Wiimotes andSARC iteration of Arduino Uno devices (a.k.a. Sarcduino firmware) <http://www.musicsensorsemotion.com/2010/03/08/sarcduino/>. [LAA] [ann] out now petri-foo 0.1.85

Petri-Foo, the fork of the soft-sampler known as Specimen, has a new release, 0.1.85, available: http://sourceforge.net/projects/petri-foo/files/Source/petri-foo-0.1.85.tar… This new release brings two and a half new features with it: (1.0) Non Session Management support (2.0) 'Full Save' functionality (2.5) Import (1.0) NSM support can only be built if the system has liblo installed. If liblo (the lightweight OSC implementation) is _not_ installed petri-foo will be built _without_ NSM support. (2.0) "Full Save" functionality increases the portability of Petri-Foo's 'dish files'. A dir is created (the bank dir) containing the dish file along with symlinks to external samples used. the bank dir can then be archived using `tar -h`. To use full save, just select 'full save as' instead of 'save as' from the file menu. Selecting 'save' will do the right thing after doing so. [LAA] The guitarix project release version 0.23.3

Guitarix is a modular tube amplifier simulation for jack, with additional Effect-Racks, inbuilt effects as well as support for LADSPA plug-ins. This is a Bug-fix release witch fix the ladspa_guitarix.so module guitarix-fx [UniqueID 4070] to avoid segfault when loading into a host. Radium ======= Radium is a free (as in speech) music editor with a novel interface. It's inspired by trackers, but has fewer limitations and uses graphics to show musical data. [LAA] [ANN] setBfree - DSP tonewheel organ

We are happy to share the following announcement with you, setBfree v0.5.0 was just released under GPLv2. setBfree is a MIDI-controlled, software synthesizer designed to imitate the sound and properties of the electromechanical organs and sound modification devices that brought world-wide fame to the names and products of Laurens Hammond and Don Leslie. Homepage: http://setBfree.org Source & Issue-tracker : https://github.com/pantherb/setBfree Will Panther succeeded where others have failed and made it possible to adopt Fredrik Kilander's Beatrix in terms of the GPL. We have spent the last weeks to update the code-base to meet requirements and are happy to announce a first beta version. The organ and effects as are available as LV2 plugins as well as a standalone JACK application. We've reworked the engine to allow arbitrary sample-rates, standardized interfaces, fixed various bugs, added a build-system, man-pages, a simple GUI for testing, etc. The sound is still pretty much the same as the original awesome Beatrix. Next steps include adding end-user documentation, tweaking and honing the synth-engine and fixing the bugs that you discover :) This release features contributions from Fredrik Kilander, Ken Restivo, Will Panther and Robin Gareus. [LAA] xfmr-plugins-0.0.1

xfmr-plugins-0.0.1 has been released. At present it contains one LADSPA plugin, an anti-aliased transformer distortion emulator intended to be used on the master bus when mixing in a DAW such as Ardour. I made it for my own use, in order to get closer to the sound of an analogue mix without the extra round trip through the DA-AD converters. Hopefully others may find it useful. License is GPL v2. [LAA] Lisalo -Linux Sampler Loader- 1.2 Release. Now with sidekick tool to load directories with wavs and oggs

Lisalo - Linux Sampler Loader - is a command line program that loads entire directories of sample files, a single .sfz file or takes instructions from a meta .lsl file with relative paths to samples. Now you can quickly and easily load sampled instruments without even starting a GUI. This is release 1.2, grab it here, no installation required (but you can symlink it to /usr/bin if you want) git clone git://github.com/nilsgey/Lisalo.git [New Features] lsl mode (see example.lsl) -Choose an instrument index when loading gig or sf2 samples -Load a directory with waves and oggs as one instrument. -Choose a name for your JACK port commandline mode (see -h or cat README) -option to specify a name for your JACK port. -directly load a single sfz file instead of a whole directory or a meta lsl file (auto detection by file extension) -this sfz file can be a temp file created by Lisalos sidekick: [New Tool - Sfz Generator] Creates temporary sfz files. Point to a directory of wave or ogg files and you'll get the filename of an .sfz file in /tmp as return value. In case you want to use this with Lisalo use the following syntax: lisalo "$(lisalosfzgenerator.py /path/to/wavedir)" This has several optional options such as: Start mapping from a key number (default 60 - middle c), only map the white keys, load sample dir recursively (don't point at your /home/samples or at an Ardour project dir!)
