Hi all,
(And apologies for cross posting)
I'm pleased to announce QuteCsound version 0.4. This version
incorporates new features and bug fixes arising from the 3 previous
Release Candidate releases.
QuteCsound is a simple frontend for Csound featuring a highlighting
editor with autocomplete, interactive widgets and integrated help. It
is a cross-platform drop in replacement for MacCsound (it can open
files created in MacCsound), and aims to be a simple yet powerful and
complete development environment for Csound.
QuteCsound 0.4 has been tested on Windows, OS X, Linux and Solaris,
and it is free software released under the GPL.
You can get it here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=227265&package_id=275…
There's more information here:
http://qutecsound.sourceforge.net/
Questions, comments and suggestions can be posted to the main Csound
mailing list, or join the QuteCsound users mailing list at:
http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/qutecsound-users
Thanks very much to all the people (particularly Joachim Heintz), who
have provided great feedback and ideas to improve QuteCsound. Also a
big thanks to Andy Fillebrown for the fixes for Windows and for
preparing the Windows installers.
Enjoy!
Andrés
Changes from version 0.4RC2:
New:
- Added "_Browse" channel for value buttons, which open a browse file
dialog and send the selected file name to any widget with the same
channel which can receive strings, like LineEdit. Added this feature
to the reserved channels example.
- New tutorials and example files, with clearer names. The examples
can now be run directly WITHOUT saving, which is very handy especially
for testing audio IO.
- Console text font color can now be changed
- Added a close tab button on the right corner of the tabs panel.
- Modified execute code for Windows (for external utilities and terminal)
- Added option to enable/disable line wrap
- Added clear option to console context menus
- MacCsound output filename is now parsed and added to the options
- Added new FM and additive examples
Fixed:
- Improved stability
- Files with extensions different to csd, orc and sco can now be opened
- External programs and terminal are now launched correctly on all platforms
- Fixed storing changes in widget panel when tab changes
- Graph widget now displays graphs generated by ftgen
- Widget values are now properly sent for the first control period
- Files now open properly on OS X when double clicked from the Finder
- Fixed problem when buffering messages
- Fixed problems with filenames with spaces when rendering or opening
in external programs
- MacCsound sections are only created if save Widgets preference is set
- New default file more consistent with current state.
- Files are now not marked as modified when changing tabs
- Fixed path of Manual for newer versions
- Fixed resizing and moving widget edit frames when changed from the
properties dialog
Heyda,
sorry for cross-posting: the first version of
"alsa-midi-latency-test"
is available at: http://github.com/koppi/alsa-midi-latency-test/
The console application aims to become a Linux drop-in-replacement for
the Windows application "MidiTest":
http://earthvegaconnection.com/evc/products/miditest/index.html
It would be nice to hear some feedback, especially from
- linux-audio-tuning users (-- what latencies are you measuring?!) and from
- alsa-developers (-- would be nice, to include this tool to the
alsa-utils package).
Kind regards,
++Jakob
Dear all,
Strasheela is a highly expressive constraint-based music composition
system. Users declaratively state a music theory and the computer
generates music which complies with this theory. A theory is
formulated as a constraint satisfaction problem (CSP) by a set of
rules (constraints) applied to a music representation in which some
aspects are expressed by variables (unknowns). Music constraint
programming is style-independent and is well-suited for highly
complex theories (e.g. a fully-fledged theory of harmony). Results
can be output into various formats including MIDI, Lilypond, and Csound.
This release brings many small-scale improvements and extensions to
Strasheela. Most importantly, the implementation of Schoenberg's
Theory of Harmony as CSP has been documented (HTML with sound
examples), Strasheela now supports adaptive just intonation, the
music representation has be extended by several convenient
constructors, and a number of pattern constraints have been added.
Also, some bug fixes have been made.

Changes are described at

The first roughly usable version 0.0.1 of jackpanel
(http://www.hans-baier.de/wordpress/jackpanel)
is available.
jackpanel is a graphical frontend for the JACK audio server,
emphasizing simplicity, good look and feel and GNOME integration.
Realtime switch, latency and samplerate can be changed with
one or two mouse clicks.
It comes in two flavors: A GNOME panel applet and standalone.
X-runs are displayed and can be reset with a mouse click.
Before starting up, make sure you have a valid .jackdrc (eg. generated
using qjackctl).
It will be imported on first startup.
Would be nice to hear some feedback, be sure to file issues
to the tracker mentioned on the project homepage.
Kind regards,
Hans
P.S.: Jackpanel currently is not goot at configuring, but running
jack. You might
use qjackctl for a first time setup. After that you can use
gconf-editor to manually change settings.
I wrote it primarily to have JACK run when GNOME starts and to
monitor its status as well as
change the most important settings with one or two mouse clicks.
JACK server configuration will be added later.
Sorry for autotune, please Spawn Pfunc

CHANGES 0.3.1 -> 0.9.0:
-----------------------
* Removed timer process testing. This was only a problem with older 2.6
kernels. (think it was fixed early 2006 or thereabout). No scary
messages printed to the screen anymore.
* Tested on Fedora core 10.
* Cleaned up documentation a bit and added instructions for installing on
Fedora, Gentoo and Debian.
Hello all,
Ecasound 2.6.0 has been released! Releases notes follow:
1. Summary of changes
---------------------
New interactive commands have been added to query and manage JACK port
connections. More options are also now available for setting up ecasound's
own JACK ports. Severe bugs in 'playat' and 'select' objects have been
fixed. A refactored ECI C implementation fixes bugs and provides improved
performance for ECI apps. Many minor bugs have been fixed.
2. What is Ecasound?
--------------------
Ecasound is a software package designed for multitrack audio processing.
It can be used for simple tasks like audio playback, recording and format
conversions, as well as for multitrack effect processing, mixing,
recording and signal recycling. Ecasound supports a wide range of audio
inputs, outputs and effect algorithms. Effects and audio objects can be
combined in various ways, and their parameters can be controlled by
operator objects like oscillators and MIDI-CCs. A versatile console mode
user-interface is included in the package.
Primary platform for running Ecasound is GNU/Linux. Ecasound can also be
run on many UNIX-derived systems such as FreeBSD, Mac OS X and Solaris.
Limited support for Windows is available through Cygwin. Ecasound is
licensed under the GPL. The Ecasound Control Interface (ECI) is licensed
under the LGPL.
3. Changes in 2.6.x series
--------------------------
- Basic support for monitoring and modifying JACK port connections,
from Ecasound's interactive mode, has been added. See
the ecasound-iam(1) man page and the related mailing list
thread at:
http://www.eca.cx/ecasound-list/2008/09/0061.html
- The syntax for specifying JACK inputs and outputs has
been refactored. Note that old syntax is still supported
as well, although marked as deprecated. See ecasound(1)
manual page and the related mail thread at:
http://www.eca.cx/ecasound-list/2008/09/0066.htmlhttp://www.eca.cx/ecasound-list/2008/09/0076.html
Closes sffeat:1415822 sffeat:2134183
https://sourceforge.net/support/tracker.php?aid=1415822https://sourceforge.net/support/tracker.php?aid=2134183
- Important bugfixes to "playat" audio object implementation.
Same bugs can also be triggered with "select".
See http://eca.cx/ecasound-list/2009/01/0089.html
- The standalone ECI C implementation has been refactored,
fixing bugs and giving a small performance boost to
ECI applications using it. Note that this code is used
by most ECI language bindings. Closes sfbug:1412409
https://sourceforge.net/support/tracker.php?aid=1412409
- Numerous small improvements and bugfixes. Affected
bug items (not mentioned above):
https://sourceforge.net/support/tracker.php?aid=2527049https://sourceforge.net/support/tracker.php?aid=2505551
Full list of changes is available at:
4. Interface and configuration file changes
-------------------------------------------
Interactive mode commands 'ai-wave-edit', 'ao-wave-edit' and
'c-mute' (replaced by 'c-muting') have been deprecated. They still
work in this release, but will be removed in a future release.
JACK audio object syntax has been updated. Object keywords 'jack_generic',
'jack_auto' and 'jack_alsa' have been deprecated. They still
work in this release, but will be removed in a future release.
Object keywords 'jack' and 'jack_multi' should be used instead.
The somewhat misleading options '--daemon', '--daemon-port', etc
have been deprecated, and more appropriately named options
'--server' and '--server-tcp-port' have been added.
Formatting of the string returned by interactive mode command
'cs-status' (aliases 'st' and 'status'), has been updated.
Largefile (LFS) support (+2GiB files) is now enabled by default,
without need for specifying '--with-largefile' to configure.
The default autoconf macro AC_SYS_LARGEFILE is now used to
check whether the system is LFS compliant (practically all
systems are nowadays). The old '--with-largefile' configure
option is still there, but no longer has any effect. For
background information, see:
