Hi all,
I have a feeling the answer for this is going to be quite simple and
make me feel silly, but:
Does anybody have a utility, script or commandline parameters for a way
to split up wavfiles based on a volume threshold?
It's common enough job - I need to split a single wavfile containing
multiple samples into lots of smaller wavs with the silence cropped out.
Any pointers?
cheers,
dave
Hello,
This worked before, maybe it will work again!
Does anyone have a copy of these programs they might like to swing my
way? I was very anxious to try them but unfortunately the web site seems
to be gone and there the software is no longer available. I used to own
several Juno's (and wish I hadn't sold them for crack money) and I
really missed my Juno-6 and 106 still. I had many hours of fun with
those synths.
Did it close because of copyright reasons or was it closed for some
other reason?
Hi all.
Sorry for the cross-posting. As promised, here are my attempts at building rythmaid ( http://rythmaidgui.sourceforge.net/ ) on my machines:
-with Mandrake 9.0 + cooker: rythmaid compile, but before it needed tse3 that needed kdemultimedia that didn't want timidity. So I gave up, un-installed tse3, kdemultimedia, re-installed timidity... but now timidity is silent. hmm, are programms alive? ~8P I will dig later with my timidity.cfg files.
-with redhat 8.0 + planet CCRMA audio packages: tse3 (0.2.5) should be removed and the 0.2.7 version from TSE web site should be installed. Then it's no problem to compile rythmaidgui.
Before running, one may want to launch a softsynth. Then, rythmaidgui can be launched in its own compile directory where it will find the Chords directory.
Some things should be noted: for now it's jazz oriented and there are only the drums and the bass. The chords must be existing in the Chords directory ("Cmaj7" works, "C" only doesn't , that's jazz, man). New chords can be defined too.
So it's an interesting program, with a clean gui, reminiscing of Bbox. The author wants to add some changes soon (more instruments, qt gui...). He was very kind answering my questions during my attempts.
regards

Hello All,
I have a few general questions for those people using DeMuDi,
- Which version are you using - woody or sid?
- Is anyone using a sid DeMuDi over a sarge (or even woody) base Debian?
- How much software are you replacing with upstream source balls or CVS
versions?
- How 'usable' is your setup - I doubt that many have a workhorse
solution, although there seem to be a few success stories on this list
and elsewhere, but is it still really just experimental (in the Debian
sense of the word)?
Thanks
Darren

Damn. When I say "balance" I mean "pan" :-)

Hi,
I dunno if ALSA modular has it's own forum?
What do some of these things in the program do? I like this program alot
so far, but I never played with a real Modular system, so I don't know
much about making cool sounds with it. I made a cool wah-wah bass sound
that I saved.
What does quantizer do? I doesn't seem to anything. I can't figure out
how to trigger it either, nothing but Quantizer makes a trigger signal
it seems. I looked at some examples but didn't figure out how it worked.
How do use CVS? What do you put them into?
Can you play it polyphonic? LADSPA says Create Poly, but I don't know
what it does.
Where can I learn to make sounds with a modular synthesizer? I can make
basic sounds so far, but how do I make interesting sounds with it? I do
it mostly by accident so far. I don't know what I'm doing so I just put
wires all over the place. Sometimes it sounds amazingly cool though!
Sometimes it makes the machine blow up (crickle-crackle).
Hi,
Sorry, but I'm tearing out my hair here! :-) I've read quite a lot
about this, but I can't seem to understand/find the answer.
I can record from the Line in of my Live Drive, but I would like to
record _just_ the audio coming in and not any other audio playing on the
system. I would like to hear the backing track though my head phones
and then record through the line in, but the recording always records
everything coming out of my speakers. Is this possible? If so what
mixer settings should I have?
Seeing lots of people producing good music with there SBLive is making
me jealous!! :-)
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Many thanks,
Pete
I've just put up 12 demo tracks that were recorded with Audacity on Linux and
an SB Live. They are mostly first-take recordings with few effects. Not pro
quality by any means, but I think it proves any band could now record demos
using Linux on basic equipment, burn them to CD and make oggs etc.

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone knows of a good program that will solve
algebraic formulas symbolically. I was using Mathematica under Windows
to do this. I need something to solve the equations for bilinear
transform of filters to the digital domain. I can't (don't) have the
patience to work the algebra out by hand (it is not usually trivial,
with large powers of complicated polynomials).
I looked at Octal but it is just a mathematical programming language,
not a symbol solver. Is there any free software which can be programmed
to solve algebraic formulas (like Mathematica) available?
