It's really very easy. Play around in the new sandbox:

De gustibus non disputandum est.
Hi guys,
is someone here using AlmusVCU?
I'm experimenting some problem with "Load custom equalisation filter"
function: basicly the software does not show .tar archives I want to load.
Is anyone using correctly this function?
Thanks!
Michele
I'm trying to burn some audio CD's and I always run into the problem that there are some CD players that just don't want to play the CDs that come out of my burner. I'm burning them in raw on a Plextor drive, so it _shouldn't_ be having problems. Apparently the CD's are not strictly compliant with Red Book specs though. (from the documentation CDrecord uses CD-DA rather than Red Book, I'm not quite sure what the differences are)
This is quite annoying when I give people a CD and it turns out their palyer can't handle it. (Once there was even a CD-ROM drive that wouldn't play it!) Does anybody know of any solutions for this?

Hi,
Here's another song from the same group. The drummer
is Tony Olson, a talented death metalist. The
percussion is Lico De Santos, a Brazilian samba player
and other styles too. The piano is P.J. Tracy who in
addition to being a great musician is an excellent
visual artist and legally blind. I'm pretty sure P.J.
would benefit greatly from an ass kickin.
Thursday I'm gonna listen to the other music that's
been posted.
BTW, the jazz song I posted is remixed. I tried to
bear in mind the feedback recieved and I think the mix
is sounding pretty darned good. The mixes are being
sent to L.A. tomorrow. They were requested by someone
so maybe something good will happen.

Running knoppix liveCD (or poor mans install) onto old
gateway solo laptop (Pentium 166), my pcmcia network
card is not recognized (netgear FA410TX).
Where can I go from here? I hope there is a way to get
it recognized without installing to HD.

English text of the declaration can be found here:
http://freemusic.org.ru/content/view/5/27/
We will make this site truly multilingual as soon as Mambo 4.6 will be released.
You can download the disc as ISO from here:
ftp://ftp.altlinux.ru/pub/distributions/ALTLinux/ISO/FreeMusic-2-cd.iso
ISO should also be avaliable from Ibiblio soon:

I tried several very reliable brands, but it hasn't made any difference.

Some of the cheaper burners have bugs in the firmware that result in crappy CDs. Some don't support various modes of burning CDs. Plextor has a good reputation for features and quality drives.

I would take that to imply that there are some differences.
You can also write in RAW mode, which tends to be more accurate than DAO mode. When I use DAO mode the subchannel data is offset by 2 seconds. I usually burn audio CDs in RAW96r mode. More from the cdrecord man file:
"-raw96r Select Set RAW writing mode with 2352 byte sectors plus 96 bytes of raw P-W subchannel data resulting in a sector size of 2448 bytes. This is the preferred raw writing mode as it gives best control over the CD writing process. If you find any problems with the layout of a disk or with sub channel content (e.g. wrong times on the display when playing the CD) and your drive supports to write in -raw96r or -raw16 mode, you should give it a try. There are several CD writers with bad firmware that result in broken disks when writing in TAO or SAO mode."

I generally use cdrecord directly or use GCD Master.

I personally never have problems with them either, but there are some cheap boom boxes out there have a real problem seeking tracks on my CDs.

I'm sure the innovation is older than both of these products.
(When SD appeared? Prior 1996?)
Just be happy that the innovation is not patented and that
finally somebody wrote convenient open source product.
