Hi,
Very off topic, but I thought it might be of interest to some. Even
commercial audio CDs are becoming unsafe. Please excuse the noise.

I start Jack with qjackctl and everything's fine with Ardour. But when I
try to start Hydrogen, it says "Error starting audio driver". I have
tried to change jack as audio driver and restart it, but the same error
message appears. With alsa driver it works fine.
system information:
Mandriva LE 2005

From the console (it says Jack is not running, though it is - and I am
not running jack as root):

Isn't the Phase 28 based on the envy24 (ice1712) chip? You should try
envy24control to control the soundcards.

Hi
I released gmorgan-0.25

Hi,
I've got two sound cards, a SoundBlaster Live 5.1 and an M-Audio Delta
Audiophile 2496. The Audiophile was detected as the first card by my
system (Ubuntu Breezy, kernel 2.6.12), and I managed to change that by
adding
options snd-emu10k1 index=0
options snd-ice1712 index=1
to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.
But now the SBLive's Midi synth doesn't work anymore. The
snd-emu10k1-synth module is loaded, and aplaymidi -l does show the
Emu10k1 Midi devices, however the synth's mixer channels are missing in
alsamixer -c 0, and I can't hear anything.
Are there any other options I have to pass to the kernel modules?
snd-emu10k1-synth doesn't seem to have an 'index' option.
Thanks,
Dominic
Greetings:
While recording a session with Ardour I noticed that when I use the
TAP reverb any "movement" action such as relocating the playback cursor
or moving a region results in a truly horrible noise when the action is
completed.
Is this a known problem ?
Ardour 0.99 (my my own build on Planet C RH9), JACK 0.99. Audio
interface card is a Delta 66.
Best,
dp
Hello all,
I am doing some testing with this card. Thanks for all suggestions but
I have no luck yet.
# lsof /dev/audio
// nothing
# aplay -D plughw:1 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Left.wav
Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Left.wav' : Signed 16 bit
Little Endian, Rate 48000 Hz, Mono
// hangs here, the syslog:
Nov 8 11:04:45 teepee cannot submit datapipe for urb 2, err = -28
// same with -N and --rate switches
# aplay -D plughw:1 /home/lzap/.openoffice/user/gallery/gunshot.wav
Playing WAVE '/home/lzap/.openoffice/user/gallery/gunshot.wav' :
Unsigned 8 bit, Rate 11025 Hz, Mono
// this wont hang, but there is no sound in the output and I find this
in the syslog:
Nov 8 11:04:45 teepee cannot submit datapipe for urb 2, err = -28
Nov 8 11:04:45 teepee cannot submit datapipe for urb 0, err = -22
Still cannot get this working. This is sad, because this piece of
hardware has unstable drivers for Windows (by usb-audio.de). I thought
I will use it under Linux...

Hi there.
I'm not a linux-guru but I'm trying to build my own audio system
taking some pieces from A/Demudi and Sid,and compiling some others from
source. My main goal is to learn as much as I can and get an audio system
working with only the components that I need.
I take the last kernel from Demudi:2.6.13-1-multimedia-386 and
jackd-0.100.0-4 from sid.
Compiled ardour,muse,zynaddsubfx,qsampler-linuxsampler,hydrogen,and some
others,and everything works really well.
I'm impressed how "stable" can be the "unstable" side of Debian.
The subject of this message is the output of qjackctl when I launch
jackd with :
/usr/bin/jackd -R -dalsa -dhw:0 -r44100 -p256 -n2
or
/usr/bin/jackd -R -dalsa -dhw:0 -r48000 -p256 -n2
*But it works fine*,I can record and playback at realtime processing
with very good results.
This advice doesn't appears when launch jackd from commandline:
supertux@sid:~$ /usr/bin/jackd -R -dalsa -dhw:0 -r44100 -p256 -n2
jackd 0.100.0 Copyright 2001-2005 Paul Davis and others.
jackd comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY

JACK compiled with System V SHM support.
My machine:
P IV 2.6 Mhz
1 Gb ddr
Terratec DMX6 Fire soundcard
Is there something that I have to do to avoid this error?I would like
to know why this happens.
I'd googled about it and find many cases where jack was stoped, but
this is not the mine.
Thanks in advance.
Saludos.
Cheers.

Hi all!
I'm looking for a room modelling software, that can be language/script
driven or in some other way that doesn't require a GUI. It may have a GUI as
long as I can avoid it in some way. Does anyone know of such a
software-package?
Kindest regards
Julien
