Hi,
I'm considering buying an M-Audio Audiophile 2496, but maybe I'll need a
second pair of analog inputs later. In this case, would it be possible to
add another Audiophile 2496, and synchronize both cards?
Judging from the information on the M-Audio homepage this should be
feasible, but does it actually work under Linux, preferably without an
S/PDIF connection between the two cards?
Thanks,
Dominic
Hello, all,
I realized why messages I've sent here probably haven't been
coming through, so I'm trying one more time. I've been trying to use
alsaconf to set things up so I can use MIDI softsynths. When I ran
alsaconf, it couldn't find my sound card, and my screen reader, which
has been playing fine through my sound card so far, wouldn't come back
up. I'm using a variant of Knoppix modified for blind accessibility,
running on an e-machines 433MHZ PC with about 160 gig of ram.
When I rebooted, the screen reader worked fine. What do I need to do to
get alsa working straight?
Thanks,
Terrence

Slat Sounds Like A Theremin
Slat 0.4b is up now. It no longer requires ClanLib and the images get
installed properly with make install.
The "b for beta" is there because I've had to leave out the extra
cursor - the one that shows the rotating point.
I'm pretty new to X/imlib programming, and I've run into problems
using imlib_paste_image.
More detail is at
http://blog.dis-dot-dat.net/2005/09/slat-without-clanlib-kde-without.html
There's a commented line that kind of puts the cursor back, but it
behaves strangely.
Everything works without it, so Slat should be perfectly usable.
If anyone has a clue about this, or can spare a few minutes to see if
the same thing happens to them with the extra line in place, I'd be
grateful.

no problem. you may view the state of implementation for your card on
http://www.alsa-project.org/
just click on soundcards, the alsa-soundcart-matrix, and choose a manufactor.

I tried to send this before, but it never went through. I'm
trying to set up alsa with alsaconf, but it can't seem to find
my sound card, and now my screen reader won't talk to me. How
can I fix this? I was hovping I could use it to set up alsa for
use with softsyn6ths, but I'm thinking this might nowt work.

Hello,
It's more than a week that I'm trying to get off my problem without
success, so I ask you for help!
I would like to use Jack with alsa on my Ubuntu Hoary 5.04 for AMD64.
I downloaded all the alsa and jack packages needed but now I'm stuck,
I can't manage to use xmms or ardour with jack.
When i launch "jackd -v -R -d alsa -d hw:0 -r 44100 -H -z s" the output is:
getting driver descriptor from /usr/lib/libjack0.80.0-0/jack_alsa.so
getting driver descriptor from /usr/lib/libjack0.80.0-0/jack_dummy.so
getting driver descriptor from /usr/lib/libjack0.80.0-0/jack_oss.so

with qjackctl is exactly the same.
If I try to use XMMS I receive the error as my soundcard is not

as if my pc couldn't play the files. With alsa everything goes well, i
can use xmms and other sounds... Could you help me? Thanks a lot.

I have a website I got with my net connection but it's
fairly slow and bandwidth limited. I'd like to find a
site to host my music for free or very inexpensively
that would make it easier to share the garbage I work
on!
Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance!
