Greets to all,
I am experiencing problems during the build (and consequently modprobe)
process of Kor Nielsen hacked version of kfusd module for OSS2JACK,
fusd-kor-1.10-9.
I am on Slackware 10.1, kernel 2.6.13 and 2.6.13.1, gcc-3.3.4, glibc-2.3.4.
As far as kernel version 2.6.12.2 the module has always been built and
modprobed correctly, these are excerpt from console:
root@slack101-sal:/usr/src/fusd-kor-1.10-9# make
.
.
[build output...]
.
.
make -C /lib/modules/2.6.13.1/build
SUBDIRS=/usr/src/fusd-kor-1.10-9/kfusd
EXTRA_CFLAGS=-I/usr/src/fusd-kor-1.10-9/kfusd/../include modules
make[2]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.13.1'

root@slack101-sal:/usr/src/fusd-kor-1.10-9#
The module does get built, but is not functional:
Upon trying to insmod, or install, depmod and modprobe the module I get
this (quite expecting it...):
root@slack101-sal:/usr/src/fusd-kor-1.10-9# modprobe kfusd
FATAL: Error inserting kfusd (/lib/modules/2.6.13.1/misc/kfusd.ko):
Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
Here is the bottom of dmesg output:
kfusd: Unknown symbol class_simple_device_add
kfusd: Unknown symbol class_simple_destroy
kfusd: Unknown symbol class_simple_device_remove
kfusd: Unknown symbol class_simple_create
kfusd: Unknown symbol class_simple_device_add
kfusd: Unknown symbol class_simple_destroy
kfusd: Unknown symbol class_simple_device_remove
kfusd: Unknown symbol class_simple_create
Maybe something changed in 2.6.13 and introduced this problem?
Has anyone been able to use OSS2JACK with 2.6.13 ?
Thanks in advance!

i have been looking for a midi keyboard controller to use with the
linux music machine i am putting together...
i would like something that fits the following description...
is cheap: i am thinking of maybe spending 100 to 150 usd.
works with linux: i am looking for a keyboard that has no synth or
anything.. just piano keys and maybe a few programmable controllers..
smallish footprint: i don't need 88 keys.. a couple of octaves is fine.
i was thinking the m audio oxygen 8 looks like a fun little gig..
does anyone know if this works with that kinda setup?
does anyone else have any other suggestions?
thanks!

What is remix.linux?
remix.linux provides a place for subscribers of the Linux Audio Users
list to share/remix/extend/master each others work, with the freedoms
offered by Creative Commons licenses.
It is inspired by ccMixter and powered by ccHost.
While the emphasis is on samples and remixing, anyone who doesn't have
access to a webserver to put their original songs may upload complete
songs here (though you are encouraged to make the seperate tracks
available, too).
What Can I Do on remix.linux?
You can upload samples, songs, accapellas, spoken-word, remixes, midi
files, flac, ogg, mp3, your sample of a duck-fart, etc, etc ... so long
as they were created/recorded with a Linux Audio Application.
You can rate submissions, review them, remix them, explain them, ignore
them.
You can stream all submissions/artists/tags, or subscribe to podcast
feeds of them.
How Do I Use remix.linux?
Just register here:
http://remix.machinehasnoagenda.com/media/register
It is quick and simple and doesn't even require a confirmation email!
Once you have signed up, create your profile and start
uploading/downloading/remixing!!!!
Hi all,
I wonder if the portable recorder Edirol R-1
(http://edirol.com/products/info/r1.html) can be used with linux. I read
that is a "USB 2.0 Storage device" - (WindowsXP/2000/Me, MacOS9.2 or
MacOS X, OS standard driver) so I guess it should work out of the box,
but a direct experience from a linux user would fugue any doubt ;)
Thank you in advance.

Hi all!
I've just recently installed the latest release of linuxsampler (0.3.3?) and
I've got a problem. I only use telnet to access LS. If I want to shut the
sampler down (really quit the server), it tells me something like:
Stopping diskthread...
There it just hangs eternally. I have to kill it. It doesn't stop my work
and playing, but it is nasty and I suppose not the way it is expected to be.
Anyone the same problem, fixes?
Kindest regards
Julien

Greetings,
I am new to the list and linux audio as I have taken over engineering a
radio station. We will be building a brand new studio on campus in
2008, and I have already started to meet with the architectural
committee. The more I consider our mission and where broadcast audio
has the potential to go in the future, the more I find I would like to
implement an open architecture infrastructure for the facility.
At this point, one of the largest questions I am facing is the transport
of the audio around the plant, and potentially around campus. The UW
has invested a tremendous amount of effort in building a multicast
capable infrastructure to handle communications needs of the campus into
the future, so we will certainly have pipeline available if we wanted to
get data from point a to b. The question is what type of transport
would be capable of interfacing with what type of in-house switching and
routing?
The in-house needs would be a system capable of replicating something
along the lines of what Z-sys:http://www.z-sys.com/pp_routing.html
equipment is capable of providing. My first choice would be to
replicate this type of routing in software as well [JACK on a large
scale]. The question then leads into what will be the transport
method? Cobranet http://www.peakaudio.com/CobraNet/Background.html is
certainly promising with actual market availability, but it is still
proprietary.
I ultimately envision a system where an artist (DJ) sits at a terminal
and has the capability to patch their own inputs with ALSA and JACK,
bring everything up on a control surface for tactile use, and route to
air, stream, or file.
I welcome any comments in any form which anybody wishes to contribute.
I will also continue to form my train of thought here:
http://mattrock.net/WSUM/. Thanks to you all for providing an
environment which has been long overdue to the audio world.

Hi!
I'm trying to get some tests with lpc done with csound5. The problem I have
is: my csound5 doesn't have it's own lpanal, so I used lpanal of
csound4.23.something.
it runs fine and outputs its analysis-frames. But when I run a simple test,
it only outputs to cracks with a lot of silence in between.
My orchestra looks something like:
[header]
instr 1
ktim line 0, p3, p3
a1 buzz 15000, 110, 64, 1 ; function 1 is a sine GEN09
krmsr, krmso, kerr, kcps lpread ktim, "voice.lpc"
aout lpreson a1
out aout
endin
The audio-material, which I analysed was simple speech. Am I doing something
wrong? Should I be sure to use one of lpanal's options to get good input for
lpread/lpreson?
Kindest regards
Julien
