Hi everyone!
Is there any supported hardware for DAB/DRM under Linux? A friend of mine is
planning to have a media-server for his home and I try to help him as best I
can.
Kindest regards
Julien

Hey,
What is the best command line (or other) way to convert 24/48K to CD
quality wiv
files on linux?
I can't seem to get ecasound to do the right stuff and I think sox is
not 24 bit capable.
Thanks

Hi all,
A while ago, being annoyed by arts interfering with skype, I decided to
recompile my KDE without arts (I'm on Gentoo). Since then, my KDE does not
emit any kind of sound for system notifications.
The bigger issue is that my mic input simply does not `reach' any software.
Anything said into the mic comes out from the speakers directly. The volume
controls in kmix for the mic work correctly, however. How do I fix this? Oh,
I haven't tried to use the mic anywhere outside KDE..
Thanks.

Hi,
i've got a question, because I couldn't find anything in the
documentation: Is it possible to run Ingen as Jack Client and if yes,
how can I do that?
I tried all the parameters and the GUI "ingenuity" (or similar) but
either Ingen tries to connect to some unfamiliar servers or to start a
jack-server itself (which doesn't work either).
Are there other modular DSSI- and Jack-capable syntesizers besides Ingen
(since AMS isn't DSSI-capable)?

ciao/hello
i use some applications on pc with a updated debian unstable to make
some beautiful electronic (:-)) music. i don't have external midi
controller or some instruments, i only use my pc. i have a creative
audigy es.
1) what configuration can i use in jack for best performance?
now i use this command line:
/usr/bin/jackd -v -R -P70 -dalsa -dhw:0 -r48000 -p256 -n2 -P -s -zt
with a latency of 10.7 ms; is it important latency in my case?
2) when i use vsthost with wineasio and some vsts i have some xruns
and i can hear some poppings? is it a normal problem?
3) as midi arpeggiator i try to use qmidiarp (gpl but old, it is a dead
project?) and hypercyclic (freeware, new and very good) but i can figure
out how can use these softwares? precisely i don't know how link these
programs with jack.
excuse for my english.
thanks in advice.
Luigi

I've recently received the Zoom H2 Handy Recorder and am very
pleased with the recorder. So far I've been discovering its features
and making the connections with my computer.
As I posted recently, a very detailed review of the Zoom H2 can be
found at:
http://digitalmedia.oreilly.com/2007/09/13/review-zoom-h2-surround-recorder…
And the Owner's manual can be downloaded in PDF format directly from
Zoom at:
http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/h2/
The H2 works with Windows XP, Windows Vista, and MacOSX 10.2 or later.
There is an update to the H2's system file for Mac 10.5 (Leopard) at
the Zoom site.
I'm running a linux distribution, openSUSE 10.2 with a 2.6.x kernel.
I am now happy to report that the H2 will recognize the H2 when it is
plugged into a USB port. I was able to copy files from the H2 to
computer and from computer to H2. I used Midnight Commander for the
transfers. It wasn't necessary to use the BlueProton SDHC card reader
to transfer files from the H2 to openSUSE 10.2 and back again.
I'm using ALSA for the sound system/control on openSUSE 10.2. When I
set the H2 to be a USB mic to the computer, my 'alsamixer' screen did
not recognize the H2. Something about 'no elems'. Perhaps someone
knows of a generic USB mic that alsamixer recognizes?
But when I used 'arecord' from the command line with standard CD/wav
settings, I was able to directly record to the computer.
I hope to do some vocal recording soon.

Okay, now I understand what you meen.
You get a Midi in and Out put port in qjackconnect. Connect your Keyboard or
vkeybd with QMidiArp Input Port, connect QMidiArp Output with your Synthy or
WaveTable. You will see it work like a router an spliter. Now you can load
the example demo.qma file . Play again your Keyboard and you will see for
what you can use QMidiArp.
You can write Pattern and play them with your keyboard.
I dont know qmidiarp befor, its funy. But it's old and would't compile clean
on my debian/sid.
