Dear all ,
I'm having a problem trying to recognise 4 diferent audio exits of my
M-Audio FastTrack PRO , under jack.
When I try to configure qjackctl I 'm able to see 2 diferent outputs :
HW:1:0 and HW:1:1 but I'm only able to activate one of them. On other side
when I specify 4 outputs , jack fails to start.
Please let me know if anybody has been able to setup 4 diferent FastTrack
AUDIO OUTPUTS under jack.
I'm using 64studio.-

Hi all,
I'm trying to get my usb midi keyboard (an edirol PCR 800) working with
my good laptop (a 1400 MHz core 2 thinkpad X61s). I have jackd running
with 8 msec latency and no xruns using an onboard intel HDA sound card.
When I hook up qsynth (fluidsynth) to the keyboard's alsa midi output,
the notes are triggered with a slight (<0.1s?), and variable time delay.
Sometimes the note plays immediately on pressing the key; sometimes
there is a noticeable delay. This does not happen when I use the same
setup on my old laptop (a 1400 Mhz single core dell).
The OS is debian testing at the moment, but I have had the same problem
on this laptop with both ubuntu jaunty and a fairly recent version of
linux mint.
Does anyone have any idea what might be happening, or what I can do to
narrow down the cause of the problem a bit further?
My /proc/interrupts, lsusb, and lspci are pasted below.
Cheers,

Hi,i own a EMU 1212 but i can't make the adat digital I/O working. Jack only
shows 4 devices with 2 I/O and nothing more.
Anybody has a clue?
Thank you

Hi everyone!
What would be the best way to get an encrypted directory, on which I can
still easily work? So not just gpg or pgp encrypt some data, because it's
around 3G and I wouldn't want to pack and unpack it all the time, there's
audio in there as well.
Thanks for any help on this!
Kindest regards
Julien

I posted this question at the 64Studio forum, but didn't really get a direct
answer so I figured I try the list.
I am looking for a way to get ADAT IO to my computer. I would like to use
one of the many eight-channel mic-preamp units that output ADAT, and the
only cards I can find that support ADAT IO and linux are RME's Hammerfall
line. However, I would rather not be tied to PCI cards, and the Hammerfalls'
IO is really overkill for my needs (I'm only looking for eight channels; a
single ADAT connection is all I want).
Are there any other Linux compatible cards (preferably USB or FIrewire) that
support ADAT IO?
Thanks,
Zachary A. Klein

Hi,
i'm using drumagog as sound replacer through fst and it works like a charm.
Unfortunately it works just for 15 days because i can't unlock it (i own a
licence). Drumagog seems to accept the code and asks me to restart the
program but as soon as i restart it i keep on seeing the "days remaining"
writing.
Anybody has a clue?

:-) sounds good. I'll send it to some radio stations then :-)

Indeed, I'm no drummer but am quite happy with the feel of the drums.
VST drum plugins are not cheap but are a good solution for a non
drummer to get good sounding drums.
I wouldn't mind though if there was a generally available kit which
can do the basic stuff.
With drums I've come to the conclusion that it's not enough to have
just a sample library. There is a need for an artificial drummer to
give a human feel to it. It's not rocket science, as far as I
understand the main thing is to rotate drumsamples to keep it from
feeling static. Can be done with midi only, a good simple library and
constantly changing the velocity but it's very hard work.

Great :)

Hi guys,
I've noticed that quite a lot of people submit their musical works
here and I've been longing for sometime to join the gang.
As long as noone complains :-)
Anyway, here goes:
http://spamatica.se/diligo_decanto_-_spelar_mina_sanger.mp3
A summery pop song in Swedish that took form during summer. The basics
were written and recorded in one evening. After this I've been
tinkering with it from time to time.
Comments and critique are quite welcome!
Tools used:
- guitars and podxt
- Cheap condenser mic
- MusE for all midi and audio sequencing
- Addictive Drums vst plugin
- Jamin
- lots and lots of plugins
- some soundfonts
- sweat blood and tears
- forgotten stuff
