This is my first attempt at getting Ardour to receive MTC. I am syncing
it to an Akai MPC2000. I have set 160bpm on both ends, with Ardour set
to receive MTC and MMC, and have left fps set to 30. Sync to MTC is on,
and QJackCtl has been setup to connect Ardour's virtual port with the
USB MIDI port that the MTC is coming in through. The MPC2000 is setup
to output MTC and MMC, and its frame rate is set to 30fps.
If it completely didn't work, that would be easier to troubleshoot than
what it is doing: It works only when seeking forward and back with the
transport controls, but not when I press record or play on the MPC2000.
Very strange.
I can move forward and back a bar at a time with the [<] and [>] buttons
on the Akai, and Ardour will move along perfectly in sync on each
keypress, keeping to the same point in the timeline. If I make the Akai
"Play From Start", it will even jump back to the beginning.
But under no circumstances I have been able to find will it actually
play. It knows that a "Play From Start" command requires jumping to the
beginning, but then that's all it does. If I arm tracks to record and
set the system record light flashing, pressing play on the Akai does not
make Ardour start recording; it just sits there waiting while the Akai
plays.
I'm probably missing something dumb here. Is there anything that could
cause Ardour to track forward and backward seeks through the timeline
but not start and stop? It sounds like it's not getting MMC to me,
except it should be -- it's enabled at both ends. I'm puzzled.

The attached patch (Sharp Synth)behaves very differently on yoshimi to
zyn. The notes C1 to F1 and C2 to F2 are extremely dull sounding, and
the overall level is higher.
I can't really pin it down, but my suspicion is that yoshimi is
ignoring the resonance setting and applying it's own strange one.

Hi,i'm an Ardour user and i have three simple questions:
1. Is it possible to join multiple regions into one?
2. Is there the possibility to create an automation on the send level?
3. Is it possible to move 2 or more points of an automation together
(multiple selection and then move)?
Thank you

Virtual MIDI Piano Keyboard is a MIDI events generator and receiver. It
doesn't produce any sound by itself, but can be used to drive a MIDI
synthesizer (either hardware or software, internal or external). You can use
the computer's keyboard to play MIDI notes, and also the mouse. You can use
the Virtual MIDI Piano Keyboard to display the played MIDI notes from another
instrument or MIDI file player.

Hi all,
Here is the new Puzzle du Batteur-The Drummer's Gigsaw.
Published under GPLv3 or later Licence, at this time it's only available
for Linux.
Forget the old versions and first of all read the README.
Feedbacks, suggestions, criticisms are welcome, of course.

Thought I'd share my experience in case it helps anyone who is new to this.
I'm an amateur musician who's used Linux for everyday computing for about 10
years, and recently decided to use my laptop as a tool for composition. I'm
no hacker but reasonably competent at configuring Linux apps.
I use a Toshiba 64-bit laptop running Ubuntu 9.04 (2.6.28-3-rt kernel).
Sound and video hardware in this machine is the usual Intel OEM stuff -
nothing special.
I decided to try out a number of music applications but had a lot of
problems installing/configuring the likes of Rosegarden, MuseScore, and a
few others, and setting up the jack server, minimising latency etc. I tried
all the solutions posted in relevant lists and forums but still found
problems and eventually got fed up - I'd rather spend the time writing
music.
Then I found NtEd. I'm surprised there is little mention of it in the
archives here. I found it to be the only serious composition tool that
installed and ran without any problems, and very easy to use. If you want
to make use of midi, the latest version ( 1.8.0 ) supports creating a score
from playing a midi keyboard. The developer's website and documentation is
comprehensive and well written. So if you are more interested in composing
music than tweaking Linux music apps, I recommend you check out NtEd.

I might not have much clue about programming, but I have had a lot of
fun stress-testing zyn and friends.
This has had the side effect of prodding me to create some more voice
patches, and convert an old tune of mine to entirely Zyn voicing - it
had been a mixture of hardware synths and Zyn.
The latest version of the tune is at:
http://www.musically.me.uk/music/Ghost_Train.ogghttp://www.musically.me.uk/music/Ghost_Train.mp3
The very first sound you hear is my new 'Metal Drips' and the lead
is 'Super Square'. There is also 'Percussion Organ' but it's mixed with
another sound so it's not too discernable.
All three of these are attached, and as usual, my entire collection
(with some other new goddies) is at:

Thanks for your help
Besides the missing headers, it was a zynjacku build problem (my fault)

For several years I've lusted away over the Clavinet-through-Auto-Wah sound: the Stevie Wonder sound (also used notably by Herbie Hancock, Medeski, Martin and Wood, and others).
The problem is that either the LADSPA auto-wah plugin doesn't quite cut it, or the Clav soundfont I found on Hammersound several years ago doesn't have enough dynamic range to really make the thing "wah" in any noticeable way.
Am I doing something wrong here, or is the plugin not quite the best implementation, and if so, are there any better ones? Likewise with Clavinet soundfonts too.

Still doesn't work. I've installed core and bridges- by: $make, #make
install
Exported the paths, but didn't solve it.
