Hi list
I have restructured guitarix a bit and split it into a amp head and two
effect racks. It's in svn only for now.
screen-shot from the AMP is here:
http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/5087/screenshot027x.png
I need some testers and feedback before I could make a release out of
it. So please, if you are a guitar player, checkout our Sources and
build gx_head. Let us know if you miss something or if you found a bug
or a misconfiguration.
get the source
svn co http://guitarix.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/guitarix/trunk
guitarix
(like ever all FAUST.dsp Sources included)
configure them
cd ./guitarix
/waf configure --prefix=/usr --includeresampler --includeconvolver
--experimental --optimization --debug --no-faust --build_head
that will build guitarix and also the new gx_head
and build and install
./waf build
./waf install
run it with
gx_head

Hi Darrin
No. I made my own Hydrogen drumkit using the samples found on the sample CD
"House Musique". It's from a company called Ueberschall. The library is quite
old. I haven't found it any more on their web page. But I think there exist
better libraries now.
Regards
Oliver

Is that the default hydrogen kit?

I'll have to try that sometime.

Dear all,
Despite all the instruments being played sloppily, the timing issues
and my unstable vocals I had a great time mixing this song with the
Furious Desertrix (Qtractor 0.4.7). With the new MIDI learn stuff it is
now possible to do automation with the help of an extra 'automation'
MIDI track. By using such a track I could automate the Degrade ladspa
plugin (thanks Leigh Dyer for the pointer!) in the beginning of the song
and the Calf Vintage Delay and Calf Phaser lv2 plugins I used for the
vocals and the FluidSynth-DSSI strings.
The song itself was recorded in our rehearsal room with Qtractor 0.4.7
too. We did use a click track for this song which allowed me to use
effects like the Calf delay. I didn't get to mastering it, I'm thinking
about setting up a mastering chain myself instead of using Jamin. Not
because I don't like Jamin but I still don't completely fathom this tool
and it does not really fit in my (real-time) workflow as it drains quite
some resources.
In the process of recording and mixing this track I came to realise how
much I like Qtractor, it really is such a powerful piece of software.
And props to the dev(s) of the Calf plugins, not only are the plugins
very usable and do they sound good, they also look stunning. I've used
the upcoming 0.0.19 version from git and was blown away by the looks,
these are by far the slickest native plugins I've seen.

Unfortunately I had to mix on my headphones again mostly, I have to do
mixing after work when our little baby boy is asleep.
Best,

Greetings,
I've posted a new audio/video experiment on YouTube :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdsh8CQlLA0
It's a 5 minute video that took nearly four hours to upload (it's an 800
MB MP4). I rendered it to a lossless compression format with H264 in
Kdenlive, and I'm curious to know how well it displays on various
viewers. Please advise if you experience any problems with its performance.
Incidentally, this is another one in which the video and audio were
created separately. I ran out of available tracks in AVS and had to make
the music apart from the video.
Graphics by OpenGL, sound by Csound.
Best,

Hello all!
I have a lot of samples lying in my hard disk and I need to organize
them someway. I've been testing samplecat
(http://samplecat.orford.org/), and basically like its features, but
it's a little bit clumsy program. It crashes occasionally and user
interface is odd. Moreover, sample preview function doesn't have any
sample rate conversion, which is a little bit problematic.
I haven't seen any other sample manager programs for Linux, but I think
I'm not the only one who uses samples and wants to manage them (and
preview them and maybe sort them with tags also).
So could somebody suggest a nice way to organize my samples?

Heikki Ketoharju
wouldn't it be nice to have a benchmark for jack? like a software you plug to the sever wich would stresss it to the limits?
you could try out diferent preferences for jack and diferent kernels easier.

Some time ago I mentioned that I had problems with this when doing a fresh
debian squeeze install (I'd had no problems with a previous lenny install).
USB 2 memory sticks etc. were fine but my camera, midisport 2x2 and all other
USB 1 devices just locked the whole USB system up. I had more-or-less given up
with these devices on this machine, but when I did the latest round of updates
to the system I noticed there were both udev and USB updates.
I'm pleased to report all is now working correctly again.

Say you have a poem and I have a tune.
Exchange them and we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song.
