Please let me know when that happens

Building one of these sounds like a good arduino project. :-) Seems
like "all" you'd need to do is figure out a mapping between how far
you'd rotate the servo-controlled fan-blades in response to sound.
I also wonder if this technology can be used to make spatially dynamic
sounds that would be difficult to synthesize, much like a real leslie
rotating speaker sounds different than an emulated one.

First, hello! An audio newbie, and linux oldie here :o) When I used set_rlimits jackd ... there were less xruns then running jackdbus, but gladish is so comfortable, I don't want to switch back. I have set ulimits:
# ulimit -r -l
-l: locked-in-memory size (kb) unlimited
-r: max rt priority 85
#
But then ...
# ps ax -o user,rtprio,command | grep jack
meka - /usr/bin/jackdbus auto
#
Is there a way to set rtprio for jack? Thanx!

Well, I don't see videos of giant pyramids hovering above the Whitehouse
or 10 Downing Street, but they are definitely over the Kremlin so there
may be something in that to ponder...
Also as Russia isn't on the verge of financial destitution whereas the
rest of the western world and especially one country in particular is then
I feel that is a fairly progressive place to be right now.
They also have Nukes, nuclear power, a large military force with excellent
equipment, a thriving energy industry that supplies to most of Europe and
some serious investment in gold and other precious metals.
Every country has mafia running it. Some countries just do it better than
others.

Boost Hardware Ltd.
Ardour was used for recording audio and mastering, an maudio delta ICE1712
based card for recording audio. Vid and audio were combined and encoded with
openshot.

Its finally done, any constructive criticism is welcome. I personally rate
it 7/10 out of what I was going for.
That's the question really - I am using a midi keyboard with these two
programs and would like to be able to use the aftertouch on it, but they
don't seem to work by default. Does anyone know if there is a way to get
this working?
Thanks,
andy
I'm trying to gather up a rough price quote for a friend for an Ardour Linux DAW station. His 2.3Ghz Core2Duo MacBook Pro running ProTools is starting to creak under the weight of tracks and plugins. I have not given up on trying to convert him to Linux and Ardour yet.
If I can save some research time by starting from references from the list, that'd be a big help.
The audio interface will most likely be an RME Hammerfall PCI, so shared-interrupt issues shouldn't be a big deal. I will probably either install a Firewire card (for external drives) or two, but the audio interface will not be on Firewire.
I'm looking for an affordable system that can stay in service for many years, say 3-5 years.
Any recommendations for what CPU and motherboard to get? I can find quiet cases and drives locally, that part's not too problematic.
Thanks.
