Hi,
probably all interested are already conscious, but if not - since few days
there is available new release of Renoise,
http://www.renoise.com/indepth/renoise-news/back-to-beats-with-renoise-2-7-…
with really revolutionary features:
* Multiband send device (which allows to send channel to 3 routes -
depends on range freq!)
* Beat slicer
* Improved Automation (finally Renoise are automatise parameters for full
song in fancy way, snap them to the beat and so on).
It's still beta - but with Renoise quality - besides of few bugs its free
from memory laks and crashes (yesterday was working on song in 12 tracks +
7 vst instruments + loomer + one ladspa effect) and Renoise survice longer
than me.
:)
P.S.
>From Linux users point of view some things are still missing (LV2 support
+ Jack Master Transport problem - I heard that Jack developers has been
contacted since its not exactly renois issue), but for sure it is really
mature Linux DAW.
Cheers,
Rafał

Hello Everyone!
I'm looking for a completely textual (no even ascii art0 representation of
the DX7 algorithms. I've search the web a bit and the best I found was one of
those ASCII art representations, but I couldn't get much sense out of them. so
does anyone know, or for their wn convenience have, such an overview of the
algorithms?
Kindest regards
Julien

Y-ellow All.
Thanks for the headsup on the loader. Unfortunately none of this
stuff seemed to be installed with TangoStudio and apt-get fails to find it.
Having said that, if there is only a command line interface to talk to the
emu10k1 then it's largely moot. Since without being able to be controlled
from the sequencer, it's useless.
I'll try a few of the other distros again and see if I fair better but it's
looking like I will have to concede defeat and resort to using windows as a
sampler. Something that I was hoping not to do, but I am out of time.
Perhaps one day when I have the time and can come at this from another
angle this will be more plausible.
It's a shame though. I was rather hoping to be able to say that I used
linux exclusively. Rather than the risk of giving free press to some less
deserving corporation or other.
Thanks again for all your help. Much appreciated.
Be absolutely icebox.

Hi all,
You can download the newest version of my simple python script for making
jack, jack-midi, and alsa-midi connections from an interactive command line
interface here:
http://www.akjmusic.com/software/jackctl20110317.py
All you need, of course, is Python. And who doesn't have that on their
system nowadays? Just put it someplace in your PATH, and link it to a more
generic name like so:
$ mv jackctl20110317.py /usr/local/bin
$ sudo ln -s /usr/local/bin/jackctl20110317.py
/usr/local/bin/jackctl.py
Why not "qjackctl"? Maybe you like the swift stealth of the command line, or
maybe you don't want GUI overhead, or packaging overhead of having to
install QT if you otherwise wouldn't...
new features in this version:
1) you can edit a sample jackd command line within the script itself, and
with the new 's' command, you can thus toggle the jack server on and off
right from within "jackctl".
2) cleaner and clearer command prompt, unambiguously indicating three toggle
modes: audio, alsa-midi, and jack-midi
3) got rid of the silly terrible joke about growing fruit from your computer
:) Or did I? You'll just have to find out.... ;)
Let me know if you find any bugs....I want to try and convince Paul Davis to
package this script with future distributions of jackd itself---your
happiness with this script may make it possible :)
Best,

Hi all,
I am searching some LV2 plugin or standalone utility with this feature set:
1x audio input
HPF, LPF for limiting audio material which will be taken as source for trigger
threshold for trigger
1x MIDI out
selectable midi note, midi channel and velocity which will be triggered.
maybe one audio output for listening modified audio source.
Somebody here knows some similar plugin or utility?
best regards

I would like to announce the release of flarps-0.1.0
Flarps is an arpeggiator for Linux. It uses JACK MIDI to generate
melodies, and it can be controlled live by editing a text file in
a simple text-editor.
Flarps is designed around the notion of 'steps'. A step describes
the relative distance between two MIDI notes, and has a horizontal
and a vertical component. Vertically, a difference in pitch is
specified, and horizontally a distance in time (rhythm).
You can find a lot more information about flarps here:
http://flarps.sourceforge.net/
You can download it directly at:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/flarps/files/flarps-0.1.0.tar.bz2/download
Or you can clone the git repository with:
git clone git://flarps.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/flarps/flarps
For bug reports, feature requests, support requests etc., please use
the facilities at the sourceforge project site.
New ideas or patches for this project are very welcome.
If you want to collaborate on this project, you can find
me on the linux-audio-dev mailing list.

Hi,
When I run QjackCtl with the --start parameter to automatically start
JACK, this also ticks the corresponding checkbox in the setup dialog.
The settings are then saved automatically, and the next time I run
QjackCtl without --start, JACK will be started either way.
I need to manually open the setup dialog and uncheck the autostart
option again. Is this the a bug? I basically want only the command line
to determine whether JACK is started or not.
Another problem is that when I issue a shutdown from the desktop
environment (Gnome), QjackCtl prevents the system from actually shutting
down. It is minimized to the systray, but it does not close. On some
systems, Gnome will also pop up a dialog box saying something along
the lines of "the following application is preventing the system from
shutting down...".
I then need to close Qjackctl manually, or issue another shutdown
command while it is minimized so my system will finally shut down.
What's going on here? Why is QjackCtl questioning my decision to shut
down the system? This only happens if the systray icon is enabled.
Thanks,
Dominic
The current KVR contest calls for a song which offers a solution to world
problems. I didn't think I would be able to do anything at all with this. I
mostly do instrumental work yet this theme would seem to make some form of vocal
mandatory.
However, I eventually came up with an idea that was a completely new direction
for me. I didn't just burn the midnight oil to get it completed, but the 3am
oil too!
let me know what you think. I'm sure you are all familiar with the title :)

Exchange them and we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song.
