Hi. The easiest way to do Acid kind of stuff in Linux is to chop up some loops in Ardour, and then use the drag time stretchy tool in ardour to drag them to bar/beat or as long as you like. It works quite nicely. (Btw, I think a glass of good Wine is improved by being slightly Acid. :)

This card has an ESS Maestro-1 (a.k.a AGOGO / es1948) APU. But unlike the consumer cards (which use a low quality ac'97 codec) this card uses nicer CS4222 codecs for better sound. The current drivers only work in conjunction with an ac'97 codec. There is no driver for this currently, but I am working on one, although it will be my first soundcard driver :) http://dman2044.sourceforge.net/ If anyone has any info that could help me out, I'd be grateful. [linux-audio-user] loop creation under Linux

Is there a loop based editor similar to Sonic Foundry's Acid either in existance or under development? What I'm looking for is Acid's ability to stretch/compress loops depending on the metronome therefore being able to take any loop and use it to any metronome speed. I read Acid is a failure under wine. Thanks.

There are a couple similar entry speed problems (like slurs - also "selection required"), and I thought I could try, although I'm not at all sure I;ll succeed anytime soon. However, branching usually stinks, so I'd better ask for the author's blessing. Is there some CVS/alpha code out there, so I could hack on the latest version? Or is 2.3.4 the final code for today? (Someday I'd like to write the specs and start a new project specifically for note entry - basically a frontend to one of the text-based note formats; but I'd like to learn all there is to learn about NoteEdit first, as this is the closest free projects that exist).
