Agreed Ralf.
I run a similar setup, but it's not laptop. Same processor, but graphix is
Nvidia GeForce GT770 4Gb...
No problem at all. I can record and playback with the build-in audio card.
I did have to install the ethernet drivers manually for the motherboard.
Which took me some time to figure out (not so experienced) It's an MSI
motherboard.
Like i said, i'm no pro...just sharing my personal experience
Best of luck!
maybe i should add, that i run ubunustudio 13.04 on it....

Hi, after writing to falkTX, problem resolved.
I had changed audio driver from JACK to JACK with ALSA MIDI, but I did't
noticedm that it cjanged the item below: Process mode - to continuous rack.
The solution is change process mode to MULTIPLE CLIENTS.
have a nice day.

Hi,the new version of carla doesnt show correctly the ins & outs of plugins
in
the patchbay. Also in patchage they aren't, so i think the new carla is not
creating good jack conections... or ?

Ok, thnx. Ill check it out later.
Clients like looking at 'eye candy'!!
For my needs this looks like a good relay box, dedicated synth or remote unit in another room piped across netjack to main DAW. I do want to try having it permanent on a single box to see how it runs. It's certainly much more spritely running from a USB stick vs a DVD.
Kxstudio became my staple OS awhile ago but I still use AV Linux on some machines also. Always open to new stuff such as this slick looking set up! Having SMB already set up is a hi 5 from me!!
Fanx!

I've been offered the loan of one of these. Does anyone know if it plays nicely
with Linux?
Is it plug-and-play, sacrifice a goat, or somewhere in between?

Say you have a poem and I have a tune.
Exchange them and we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song.
Tonight I'll be playing the linux netbook on a few songs at my friend's band's show, at the Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco:
http://www.reddevillounge.com/event/375173-afton-live-mrmime-rippin-san-fra…
We've been friends for 30 years, I produced the original demos for his songs over 20 years ago, was in his band briefly 15 years ago when he was recruiting people and before they started gigging, played on his CD a few years ago, but have never actually been onstage with him in all these decades, for whatever reason. So, tonight, that happens.
There will be Monosynth, mostly, and that's about it.
