Hallo list,
Was anybody successful to run Xth sense software (based on pd) on archlinux
?
pdx 0.43.4
Where I see problems is th 64 bit incompatibility with the xth sense libs,
which are precompiled:
pd-externals/xth-sense-lib/line3.pd_linux:
/home/paum/pd-externals/xth-sense-lib/line3.pd_linux: wrong ELF class:
ELFCLASS32
and TCL errors like this:
(Tcl) INVALID COMMAND NAME: invalid command name ".x7f4e941406b0.c"
while executing
".x7f4e941406b0.c create image 901 776 -image 7f4e94924050PHOTOIMAGE -tags
7f4e94924050PHOTO"
("uplevel" body line 929)
invoked from within
"uplevel #0 $cmds_from_pd"
thanks

Say you have a poem and I have a tune.
Exchange them and we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song.
Hello folks
I just bought a RME Fireface UCX and switched it into class-compliant mode
under debian wheezy. You can do that by pressing the so-called rotary encoder
twice then switching it until the display shows CC.
Then plugin the Fireface into the USB-Slot.
Automagically it will appear in the sound device selection in KDEs
systemsettings. If you choose it as preferred output device for music etc. and
maybe switch the audio device in an audio player such as vlc you will be able
to enjoy the sound of the fireface in debian wheezy!
yippie! no need for tweaking source codes ;)
I didnt check out inputs yet. I will let you know when I did!

Hi folks,
The question earlier today about a stage worthy multi-track backing
track solution made me think of "Band-In-A-Box" a windows tool for
creating style bassed tracks. I also have an OLD!!! Roland arranger
keyboard which does something similar.
Is there an equivalent program for Linux which has banks of styles,
and you input chord sequences to be played by the "band?"
Thanks!
Rusty
Is there an existing script or app for Linux that will recurse through my
MP3 archive and check to see that the samplerate of every file is 44.1KHz
so it only re-encodes those that don't match my spec?
Hello everyone!
I've got a problem uploading some sounds to my Waldorf Microwave XT. It's an
old device, but it's made to receive patches and wavetables. I downloaded a
couple of MIDI fies containing the necessary SysEx data from the web. But when
using aplaymidi to upload them like this:
aplaymidi -p 24:0 bank.mid
I get nothing for a few seconds and then messages like this get repeated a
couple of times:
[1393510.800523] dump_midi: 20 callbacks suppressed
In the end I don't find any difference in my synth.
question: is it the synth, the MIDI interface or ALSA/aplaymidi. My MIDI
interface in this instance is a USB -> MIDI adapter, just shown as "USB MIDI
Interface". It's twin is called "USB MIDI Cable". So I can't tell you it's
make and model. So far they've both served me well.
Any suggestions?
Kindest regards
Julien

Has any of you had experiences like this in the studio? I realize this is
exaggerated but i fear it may not be as exaggerated as i hope.

Greetings,
I'd like to chain samples into one new sample such that each input
sample starts at a multiple of a given time value in the output sample
(basically an evenly spaced concatenation). All input samples share the
same format but differ in length. If a sample is longer than the given
time interval it's tail shall be cut off (overwritten by the next one),
if it's shorter, silence shall be added to it's end.
Do you know of a tool or can you think of a command pipeline that would
establish this (putting the samples on the grid in a DAW to export the
result is too much work and also would make me feel stupid!)?
I tried sox so far but it seems that it's not up to the task.
Thanks

On the escalating GUI vs command line troll-bait “discussion.”
Interface concerns present to past:
Voice and other “natural” or “semantic” approaches: Hal is breaking the
surface; fully emergent soon.
GUI (any kind): Now how am I going to keep an eye on Hal lurking just below
the surface?
Vi and Emacs: Wait a minute! It's the '80s again! Hal was lurking about in
the shadows. I could sense it even then but was far too unclever to catch
him.
Bottom line: Hal is upon us. Do whatever you want to; it will seem fine. Be
happy.
Even more personal note:
One of the advantages of advancing age is the many new flavors of paranoia
to savor.
