hi all,
I'm pleased to announce the release of midish version 0.3.0. The
source code is available at:
http://caoua.org/midish/midish-0.3.0.tar.gz
Midish is a shell-like MIDI sequencer/filter for Linux and BSD It's
intended to be lightweight, fast, and reliable for real-time
performance.
Changes include: Support for 14bit controller and NRPN/RPN events
has been added. Now the complete MIDI state can be restored at any
song position. Two tracks can be merged resolving all conflicts.
New editing functions always keep controllers/bender in a
consistent state. Improved documentation, usability and code
quality.
feedback appreciated.
cheers,
-- Alexandre

To celebrate the second stable release of the 64 Studio creative free
software distribution, the 64 Studio Ltd. company is giving away a
technical support package worth US $240. The contest is being held in
association with TuxDistro.com, the site which hosts torrents for 64
Studio and many other GNU/Linux distributions.
To enter this contest, all you have to do is download 64 Studio (either
64-bit or 32-bit), try it on your own computer, and write up your
experiences. We're looking for the most insightful review, so just
writing "64 Studio rocks!" will not win you the prize :-)
The install images for 64 Studio 2.0 can be found here:
http://www.tuxdistro.com/browse.php?cat=16
The install image is up to 800MB in size and therefore requires a DVD-R.
If you do not have access to a DVD burner, we recommend that you try the
new 64 Studio 2.0 live CD, also available via the Tux Distro link above.
We strongly recommend upgrading to a DVD burner, if only to distribute
and back up the multimedia projects that you will soon be able to create
in 64 Studio.
If you cannot use BitTorrent due to restrictions on your local network,
try the download mirrors listed at http://www.64studio.com/download
Please send your reviews by email to contest at 64studio dot com, by
21st September 2007.
PHASEX-0.11.1 contains fixes for the segfault issues some users have
seen with version 0.11.0. Special thanks goes to Adam Sampson for
tracking this down, and to the rest of you who sent in bug reports.
Upgrading to 0.11.1 is recommended for all users, since it appears
that this bug will corrupt memory used by the synth engine even if
it doesn't trigger a segfault.
As usual, source tarballs and FC6 RPMs (src, i386, i686, and athlon)
are available at:
http://sysex.net/phasex
Thank you for your continued support. Here's to happy music-making
under Linux!
Cheers,

Hello all,
Ecasound 2.4.6 has been released! Releases notes follow:
1. Summary of changes
---------------------
Ability to specify a custom configuration resource file
has been added. Several long-standing bugs have been fixed.
The licensing of rubyecasound has been changed.
2. What is Ecasound?
--------------------
Ecasound is a software package designed for multitrack audio
processing. It can be used for simple tasks like audio playback,
recording and format conversions, as well as for multitrack effect
processing, mixing, recording and signal recycling. Ecasound supports
a wide range of audio inputs, outputs and effect algorithms.
Effects and audio objects can be combined in various ways, and their
parameters can be controlled by operator objects like oscillators
and MIDI-CCs. A versatile console mode user-interface is included
in the package.
Primary platform for running Ecasound is GNU/Linux. Ecasound can
also be run on many UNIX-derived systems such as FreeBSD, Mac OS X
and Solaris. Limited support for Windows is available through
Cygwin. Ecasound is licensed under the GPL. The Ecasound Control
Interface (ECI) is licensed under the LGPL.
3. Changes since last release
-----------------------------
* Ability to specify a custom resource file has been added.
This allows to use different settings for different sessions,
without having to modify system wide, nor user's default,
settings. Additionally, by specifying a null resource file,
accesses to global and user resource files can be disabled.
This can be done with the '-R' ecasound option and 'resource-file'
interactive mode command (see ecasound (1) and ecasoundrc (5) man
pages).
* License of rubyecasound, Ruby implementaion of the Ecasound
Control Interface (ECI), has been changed from GPL to LGPL. This
aligns rubyecasound with other ECI implementations.
* Fixes to many long-standing bugs. See the full change list
for details.
Full list of changes is available at:
4. Interface and configuration file changes
-------------------------------------------
None in this release.
5. Contributors to this release
-------------------------------

* Martin Michlmayr (1)
Header inclusion errors reported by GCC 4.3
* Junichi Uekawa (1)

Mammut 0.60
===========
Mammut will FFT your sound in one single gigantic analysis (no windows).
These spectral data, where the development in time is incorporated in
mysterious ways, may then be transformed by different algorithms prior to
resynthesis. An interesting aspect of Mammut is its completely
non-intuitive sound transformation approach.

Changes 0.59 -> 0.60
-Updated source to work with Juce 1.44. (later or earlier versions of
juce might not work with this version of mammut)
-Fixed a couple of ugly bugs in the progress bar code.
-Set moving camera to be off by default. Moving camera seems to stall
mammut when using newer juce's. :-(
Snd-ls v0.9.8.1_beta
====================
Snd-ls is a distribution of Bill Schottstaedt's sound editor SND.
Its target is people that don't know scheme very well, and don't want
to spend too much time configuring Snd. It can also serve
as a quick introduction to Snd and how it can be set up.
(Its named beta, because it hasn't been tested that much. But I think it
should work very well. However, a new non-beta version is going to be
released quite soon with some additional fixes.)
Changes 0.9.7.12 -> 0.9.8.1_beta
-Fixed bug that caused snd to fail starting if no previously used
soundfile was opened during startup.
-Updated Snd from 8.4/12.9.2006 to 9.3/30.7.2007. Many important fixes.
-Another attempt at fixing the rt_readin_tag startup bug.

quite a number of bugs have been fixed and some architectural changes
have been made to gain some performance ... nova-0.1 is known to run on
linux (x86 & x86_64) and on osx.

All we composers really have to work with is time and sound - and
sometimes I'm not even sure about sound.

This brings plugin in sync with latest lv2 (changed uri, double srate, header)
LV2 Simple Sine Generator is very simple plugin, generating sine when
feed with notes. It should load in any host supporting midi port LV2
extension, i.e. elven, ingen, lv2_jack_host and zynjacku. Plugin should
be usable for testing basic synth functionality and as simple example
synth plugin to start with if you want to code your own LV2 synth
plugin.
Download it from here:

The new tarball is ssg-20070808.tar.bz2
