New Software: Vico - minimalistic layer based midi sequencer

Ladies and Gentlemen, hereby the Laborejo Software Suite releases its newest software: Vico is a minimalistic midi sequencer that is intended to be used in parallel with other software. "Vico" (with c like ts in "bats") just means "sequence" or "order" in Esperanto for obvious reasons. In a loop- or pattern based environment you often want to have a 'free flowing' track in order to create an instrumental solo, for example. Sometimes you just want to record a sketch or an idea quickly and not open or create an entire DAW project. Vico fulfills these conditions by connecting exactly one source to one output, and records and plays back in between. Or to put it another way: you only get one track, intended for one instrument (but with convenient layers). Qtractor 0.9.10 - An Autumn'19 Release

Wholly greetings, Without any further delay, here it goes: Qtractor 0.9.10 (autumn'19) is now released! The shortest and maybe TL;DR change-log for this northern Autumn'19 release goes like this: - Fixed the potential crash-effect in switching MIDI output buses on tracks that are set to show audio output monitoring meters. - Fixed initial session tempo override when importing a standard MIDI file (as reported on issue #230). - An alternate time-signature/meter option is being served to the MIDI clip editor (aka. piano-roll) and allowing for some poly-rythm/meter scenarios on a per MIDI clip basis. - Fixed MIDI "overdub" recording on offset clips. - MIDI bank and program settings now propagating to all MIDI track's clips resp. - Fixed MIDI file format default setting other than SMF Format 0. - Escape key may now be used to reset time and tempo/time-sgnature spin-box controls. - Play-head time and tempo/time-signature controls are now featured in MIDI clip editor toolbars (aka. piano-roll); time display format is also separated from the tracks main application view and defaults to BBT as being most convenient. - All items in the MIDI clip editor's event list are now enabled, selectable and editable, no matter the filter settings for the event views. - Added alternate yet non-official CMake build option. - Improved MIDI clip editor (aka. piano-roll) position and size persistence across session state. - Fix HiDPI display screen effective support (Qt >= 5.6). - Mixer, Connections and MIDI clip editor top-level windows shall have no parent, unless when set as always-on-top tool windows. Linux Audio Conference 2020 : Call for scientific & artistic works

The 18th Linux Audio Conference call for participation is open. The conference will take place May 11-13, 2020, at the SCRIME, part of the University of Bordeaux in France. Up-to-date information will be available at the following address : https://lac2020.sciencesconf.org/ Linux Audio Conference is the premier meeting of developers, researchers, and artists developing and using free, libre and open-source audio software, mainly on the GNU/Linux operating system. The conference is part of the Linux Audio consortium. A special event will take part the day before, on Sunday the 10th May 2020: attendants may want to book their week-end. This edition's date has been chosen so that interested parties may be able to attend the International Faust Conference, which will happen in Paris 14-15 May 2020. We kindly invite researchers, developers and artists alike to take part to the event and propose their work. Please be prepared to perform your work yourself and make sure that you have all resources needed to perform your piece (e.g. instruments, props, other performers, etc.). JACK2 v1.9.13 release

A new version of JACK2 has just been released. You can grab the latest release source code at https://github.com/jackaudio/jack2/releases. The official changelog is: - Meta-data API implementation. (and a few tools updated with support for it) - Correct GPL licence to LGPL for files needed to build libjack. - Remove FreeBoB backend (superseded by FFADO). - define JACK_LIB_EXPORT, useful for internal clients. - Mark jack_midi_reset_buffer as deprecated. - Add example systemd unit file - Signal to systemd when jackd is ready. - Set "seq" alsa midi driver to maximum resolution possible. - Fix loading internal clients from another internal client. - Code cleanup and various fixes. (too many to mention here, see git log for details) This release is focused on meta-data support, and this is why it took so long. There might be odd cases here and there and a few bugs, as it is often the case for all software... So please make sure to report back any issues! Special thanks goes to Rui Nuno Capela for the initial pull-request regarding meta-data. There was some work needed afterwards, but that was the biggest hurdle and motivation needed for a new release. :) There are still no updated macOS or Windows builds, those will be handled at a later date. Current plan is to have JACK1 feature-parity first (only a2jmidid and zita internal clients missing now), and afterwards merging examples/tools and header files to be shared between JACK1 and JACK2. The situation regarding development of JACK and JACK1 considered legacy has not changed since last release 2 years ago. a2jmidid version 9

Hi all, I would like to announce a maintenance release of a2jmidid [1], an ALSA sequencer to JACK MIDI bridge. I have recently cloned a copy to the linuxaudio github organization [2], in the wake of the upcoming deprecation of python2 [3]. Version 9 [4] is mainly focused on the port of a2j_control to python3, pulling in "latest" (unreleased) changes and switching to the meson build system. Additionally, some architecture fixes for aarch64 and powerpc64 and some documentation cleanups found their way into this release. More information can be found in the changelog [5]. Rivendell v3.1.0

Rivendell is a full-featured radio automation system targeted for use in professional broadcast environments. It is available under the GNU General Public License version 2. >From the 'NEWS' file: Changes: Fixed a bug in rdairplay(1) and rdvairplayd(8) where only the first log machine set to 'load specified log' would do so. Fixed a bug in rdlogedit(1) that caused hard start log items to have the Hour field doubled. Refactored the Python 'pypad.Update.shouldBeProcessed()' method to work correctly when using try: blocks in a PyPAD script. Refactored the PyPAD scripts to route updates properly in accordance with log directives in their configuration file. Fixed a bug that broke dropbox logging to individual files.
