"Sonoj", a community organized event about Open Source Music Production struggles to get funded. Please help

(Disclaimer: I am an organizer of this event) In less than a month the "Sonoj Convention" shall happen. [quote]Admission is free. You will be able to enjoy demonstrations, talks and workshops about music production through open source software. Hands-on tutorials and workflow presentations can be expected. Everything will be recorded and released as online videos afterwards. [/quote] Please consider helping us by donating and spreading the word. You will get some appreciation through the "Reward" system on the website. For that we are asking for some modest donations here: https://www.startnext.com/en/sonoj Currently it looks like that this will not succeed, as you can see from the link above. This is the usual "all or nothing" platform that only gives you money if the goal is reached, otherwise donors get their money back. However, despite submitting the event announcements and several updates to nearly one hundred on-topic websites, magazines (including posting it ourselves on KVR, Reddit etc.) and blogs there is nearly zero response. That excludes the Linux Audio Scene itself, which was very supportive to this day (at least the news, not the donations). I was hoping that Sonoj could be an event that brings in people from the "outside", that are not already well connected with Linux Audio. It seems I was wrong. So here I am in one of the last places I wanted to ask for donations, because this is the crowd that usually already gives a lot, be it their own time, development of software or actual donations to well deserving projects. fluidsynth 1.1.8 has been released

Rivendell v2.17.0

[LAU] [LAD] Guitarix 0.36.0 released

Guitarix release 0.36.0 Guitarix is a tube amplifier simulation for jack (Linux), with an additional mono and a stereo effect rack. Guitarix includes a large list of LV2 and LADSPA plugins, and support LADSPA / LV2 plugs as well in it's racks. The guitarix engine is designed for LIVE usage, and feature ultra fast, glitch and click free preset switching and is full Midi and remote controllable (the Web UI is not included in the distributed tar ball). This release add a couple of features to the lately introduced DrumSequencer plugin. It add 2 more toms, it add beat repeat/skip switches, it add the possibility to add a sequence (Preset) to the current one, switch to previous/next preset, . . or load a slected preset (sequence) all controllable with Midi CC. Also it introduce new Midi Note ON to CC support, means, you could control toggle switches with Midi Note On messages now (continues control). Also it introduce a new option to load Stereo plugs as Mono plugs, eg. before the amp. It can be used to construct hybrid sounds, for instance a sound between a trumpet and a flute; or smooth transitions, for instance a sound that starts as a trumpet and then gradually changes to a flute. SpectMorph ships with many ready-to-use instruments which can be combined using morphing. SpectMorph is implemented in C++ and licensed under the GNU LGPL version 3 Integrating SpectMorph into your Work ------------------------------------- In order to make music that contains SpectMorph, you currently need to use Linux. There are four ways of integrating SpectMorph sounds into music you create: - LV2 Plugin, for any sequencer that supports it. - VST Plugin, especially for proprietary solutions that don't support LV2. - JACK Client. - BEAST Module, integrating into BEASTs modular environment. Qtractor 0.8.4 - End of Summer'17 release!

Yes, it's been like clockwork... Every two months or so, you stumbled with a brand new dot release, code-named after some of the same adjective-plus-noun (or vice versa) code-names. You knew the thrill and yet it lands no more. First, the code-naming joke has been just a parody--or was it the other way around?--to some well known Linux-distro 'alimalistic' code-name series. Then on it got rogue into some directed puns--remember the date when BitWig Studio 1.0 was first released? Yeah, the "Byte Bald" was there for the pun, on the very same day :) Well, that's all gone by now. Northern hemisphere seasons are the new norm and that's about two main reasons: first, it's where I live; second, due to an undeniable global warming effect pervading the globe, all geographical temperate zones are simply on the edge of extinction. More or less in a couple of decades or so. For the sake of brevity, I will just leave it like paying homage to those natural concepts that are facing an inexorable fate. And yet, there're still the good news: Qtractor 0.8.4 (end of summer'17) released! Change-log: - Assigned MIDI Controllers to plug-in's Activate switch are now finally saved and (re)loaded properly across sessions. - Audio clip panning option property is now being introduced. - Out-of-process (aka. dummy) VST plug-in inventory scanning now restarts automatically and resumes processing in case of a premature exit/crash; VST plug-in inventory scan/cache persistency is now in place. - Desktop entry specification file is now finally independent from build/configure template chains. - Updated target path for freedesktop.org's AppStream metainfo file (formerly AppData). - Changing the View/Options.../Display/Custom/Style theme takes effect immediately unless it's back to "(default)". - Slightly slower but better approximation to IEEE 32bit floating point cubic root ie. cbrtf(). fluidsynth 1.1.7 has been released

Dear community, after long time of inactivity, development for fluidsynth got rolling again, leading to the 1.1.7 maintenance release I hereby announce. Highlights of this release include the support of MuseScore's vorbis compressed SF3 files (thanks to fabiangreffrath <https://github.com/fabiangreffrath>). We also addressed a license issue and consistently re-licensed fluidsynth under the terms of the LGPL-2.1+.
