[ANN] WhySynth DSSI softsynth 20170701 release

I'm pleased to announce the 20170701 release of WhySynth, a DSSI softsynth plugin featuring four oscillators per voice, multiple oscillator, filter, and envelope modes, effects, and more. New since the last release: * Over 100 new patch presets, thanks to Brian Collins at linuxsynths.com. * Patches now have a 'category' field, with which you can organize the patch list. * Fixes for a couple security concerns, a pile of bugs, and a raft of compiler warnings. * A change to the default knob behavior. * No new synthesis features (yet). Oh, goody, breakage and confusion: * The addition of the category field meant a change to the patch file format. Unfortunately, earlier versions of WhySynth were not designed with forward compatibility in mind. If you save patches in the new 'version 1' format, older WhySynths will not be able to load them. If you save patches in the old 'version 0' format, both older and current versions of WhySynth can use them. (Current versions can even save and load the categories using 'version 0' format, thanks to a bit of a hack, but don't round-trip from new to old to new versions of WhySynth, or you'll lose your categories.) * This release changes the default mouse button bindings of the knobs. Previously, dragging mouse button 1 made changes in angular mode: the knob would (quite abruptly) move to point toward the mouse pointer. Dragging mouse button 3 used to operate in linear mode, where moving the pointer vertically or horizontally would make smooth incremental changes. This release swaps that behavior between the two buttons, to what I think is a more usable default. Qtractor 0.8.3 - The Stickiest Tauon is out!

Howdy! Qtractor 0.8.3 (stickiest tauon) is out! Changes for this mostly just a bug-fix beta release: - Make sure any just recorded clip filename is not reused while over the same track and session. (CRITICAL) - LV2 Plug-in worker/schedule interface ring-buffer sizes have been increased to 4KB. - Fixed track-name auto-incremental numbering suffix when modifying any other track property. - WSOLA vs. (lib)Rubberband time-stretching options are now individualized on a per audio clip basis. - Long overdue, some brand new and fundamental icons revamp. - Fixed a tempo-map node add/update/remove rescaling with regard to clip-lengths and automation/curve undo/redo. - Fixed a potential Activate automation/curve index clash, or aliasing, for any plug-ins that change upstream their parameter count or index order, on sessions saved with the old plug-in versions and vice-versa. Beast 0.11.0 and Rapicorn 17.0.0

Beast 0.11.0 and Rapicorn 17.0.0 are out. Beast is a Music Synthesizer and Composer, Rapicorn is an SVG-based toolkit for declarative UI construction. After the positive feedback from rc1 in the last week it's time for a proper release, so here are the final tarballs: https://dist.testbit.org/beast/beast-0.11.0.tar.xz https://dist.testbit.org/rapicorn/rapicorn-17.0.0.tar.xz Fixes since last week's rc1 include i18n, namespace issues in the BSE header files, some PD licensing clarifications and avoiding assert or aborting error functions in library code. Overall, the Beast 0.11 release brings a truckload of new stuff like soundfont support thanks to Stefan Westerfeld, true multi threading for the DSP module calculations, faster startup times and a number of bug fixes. We are also starting to install/package the experimental ebeast code, but that's not yet fully working and has major changes in the queue for upcoming releases. The long non-functional Scheme scripting backend has been removed, the plan is to support more former-script functionality in the UI and in the distant future possibly allowing scripts again that also have access to UI components. Building distributions now uses git archive which avoids a lot of tedious autotools updates before releases. Notably the packaging scheme has been changed so that Beast is now installed under $prefix/lib/beast-VERSION and optionally supports --with-pkgroot which allows to build Beast as /opt/beast-VERSION. Symlinks are provided from /usr or $prefix subdirs like bin/ and mime-info/ into the Beast package dir as needed. This enables binary package builds under /opt/beast-0-11 with symlinks installed in /usr, like e.g. google-chrome-stable*.deb does it. It can be used to construct hybrid sounds, for instance a sound between a trumpet and a flute; or smooth transitions, for instance a sound that starts as a trumpet and then gradually changes to a flute. SpectMorph ships with many ready-to-use instruments which can be combined using morphing. SpectMorph is implemented in C++ and licensed under the GNU LGPL version 3 Integrating SpectMorph into your Work ------------------------------------- In order to make music that contains SpectMorph, you currently need to use Linux. There are four ways of integrating SpectMorph sounds into music you create: - LV2 Plugin, for any sequencer that supports it. - VST Plugin, especially for proprietary solutions that don't support LV2. - JACK Client. - BEAST Module, integrating into BEASTs modular environment. Note that at this point, we may still change the way sound synthesis works, so newer versions of SpectMorph may sound (slightly) different than the current version. Rivendell is a full-featured radio automation system targeted for use in professional broadcast environments. It is available under the GNU General Public License. Rivendell now automatically generates a SHA1 hash for each file in the audio store and records this value in the database, thus permitting automated recovery of audio in the event of loss or damage to the audio store's filesystem directory. See the --relink-audio option in the rddbcheck(8) man page for details. Kernel GPIO. Added switcher support for Kernel GPIO devices, such as the GPIO interface on the Raspberry Pi 2 and 3. Modbus TCP. Added switcher support for Modbus TCP devices. RDConvert. Added an rdconvert(1) utility, User Authentication. It is now possible to delegate authentication of Rivendell users by means of a PAM module, thus permitting 'single sign-on' integration with systems such as ActiveDirectory and FreeIPA. Web API. Andes - synthesizer plugin based on Perlin noise

Hi everyone! I'd like to announce the first release of Andes, a sound synthesizer plugin based on Perlin noise. It is built around an original oscillator that calculates a sum of Perlin noise steps using a technique called fractional Brownian motion to produce distinctively digital sounds. Check it out at: https://artfwo.github.io/andes/ The current implementation only provides a single oscillator and an ADSR envelope. Certain basic features like presets and modulation are underway. Andes is written using JUCE and I managed to build VST+standalone binaries so far, but an LV2 plugin looks possible with JUCE, so that is planned as well. DrumGizmo v0.9.14 (LAC2017 version) released

DrumGizmo version 0.9.14 now available! Get it at http://www.drumgizmo.org/ DrumGizmo is an open source, multichannel, multilayered, cross-platform drum plugin and stand-alone application. It enables you to compose drums in midi and mix them with a multichannel approach. It is comparable to that of mixing a real drumkit that has been recorded with a multimic setup. This is a bugfix release fixing a lot of bugs as reported from our last release 0.9.13[1] which was the first drumgizmo version ever supporting diskstreaming. The release bears the version number 0.9.14 and can, as always, be downloaded here[2]. For the full list of changes, check the roadmap for 0.9.14[3]. The release of 0.9.14 is also known as "LAC2017 here we come!" As is a bit of a tradition for the DrumGizmo team (and many other fine open source projects), we have prepared a special release for the upcoming Linux Audio Conference[4]. This year the conference takes place in Saint-Etienne, France from May 18-21 2017. And we'll be showing up! So be sure to take note of “The cool guys with the drumsticks”.
