Did jack report xruns during the time you were recording?

Just recently I recorded a live piano concerto. All of this was done
using an ART Pre-amp, a Soundphone(I believe is the brand) CD burner,
M-audio Omnistudio USB, and an iBook G4. Now, the pre-amp had a digital
out that went to the CD burner. The 1/4" outputs of the pre-amp went to
the M-audio which was connected to the ibook. Well, the burned CDs
turned at great(note-I had the digital sample rate set to 48Khz). I had
my Omnistudio set at 96Khz. Every so often in the recoding, you hear a
bit of pop, which to me seems like some other system resource got
priority. The only thing that occurred while recording was the display
going to sleep. The airport was off, and Ardour, X11, and JackPilot were
the only programs running. I'm curious as to what could have caused
this, how to fix it. The next time I do a recording with it, I will
probably have to drop the sample rate to 48Khz.

Greetings:
As many of you already know, SuSE has entered into an interesting 5-year
plan with Microsoft. You can find the details on Slashdot and
elsewheres, so I won't rehash them here.
What isn't mentioned is the ALSA/SuSE connection. I'm pretty sure some
of the ALSA developers read these lists, and I'd like to hear from them
regarding the significance of their employer's new connections and
ALSA's IP and its continued development. Is this marriage happy news for
Linux sound or is it an unholy alliance signifying doom and destruction
for the world at large (and not just the Linux audio community ;) ?
Or will things just cruise along in business-as-usual mode ?
Any and all insight vastly appreciated.
Best,
dp
I must've downloaded Dave Phillips' Prelude a while ago & then not
listened to it.
Finally corrected that oversight & greatly enjoyed it - nice harmonies.
In fact, a piece with a quiet, almost veiled beauty. I wonder if it
would work on an acoustic piano (although it sounds nice with the bell
piano)?
Thanks Dave - I look forward to more.
Gavin.
another serious candidate for this kind of hum are "wall wort" power
supplies.they can radiate AC hum for up to 2-3 meters from source. Do your
speakers have power this way ? move the power supply towards and away from
any audio hook-up cable and see !

g.

You're welcome. It was on my list to do but not in that order. So you
just reordered my todo list a bit :)
Because of that I have started to look into the mixer. Looks interesting.

Hi
I'm looking for a "reverse reverb" effect to use in ardour. I'm not sure
what the appropriate term is, but on an old analog tape it could be
achieved by butting the tape in "wrong" so that it plays back in
reverse, running the sound through a reverb, recording the reverb to
separate tracks and putting the tape back in for normal playback.
Is such an effect available as a LADSPA plugin (in that case I apologize
for being unable to spot it in the vast list of plugins), or could it be
build/emulated by using several LADSPA plugins?

Hi the list,
My apologize for all this noise tonight from me.
I still have a little problem with ardour.
When i record a track, from analog material (my guitar to be precise), i
play with a click and i'm on the time. But when i'm listening the
result, it's allways a little bit in advance (i can hear it)
I compiled my kernel with realtime and preempt patch and when i run
ardour and jack, ardour indicate a 0.7 ms latency time but jack setup
latency is 92.7 ms.
For the moment i move the region to fix it, but it's very usefull.
Is there someone to met this problem before ?
Cheers
P'tit Louis
