Steinway_IMIS2.2 soundfont (no loops fix)

This is Steinway_IMIS soundfont, version 2.2. ftp://musix.ourproject.org/pub/musix/sf2/Steinway_IMIS2.2 This version fixes the issue with loops. I hope this is the good one and there are no more remaining major bugs. Marcos is a little busy right now, so he asked me to make this fix. He is thinking to make other improvements, so expect more updates soon.

[linux-audio-user] Sub-harmonic generator? (LADSPA or VST)

Hello, Does anyone know of a good plugin that will generate subharmonics? I would like to put a little more low frequency "oomph" into my bass track. Preferrable LADSPA, but VST would work, too. Thanks for any help! -TimH

[ANN] TapStart 0.1 released

Hi all, following a basic rule for open source project "publish early and often" I release the very first (but quite feature-rich) version of TapStart to the public. TapStart is a basic tempo-measurement where you tap some beats and get the (averaged) tempo displayed. But there is more to it: - TapStart also updates the jack-tempo (if a running jack was found during startup) and can even start the jack transport after a defined number of taps. This is implemented for using this thing in jam-sessions to get a click/drum-computer to play in a tempo not known before. - TapStart can also send OSC-messages with the tempo/delay-value as argument to any gives host and path. Ardour2 + Debian (Testing)

I had to install Ardour2 tonight on a new Debian Testing box, but could not find Ardour in the Testing repos, so I built it from source. So here's a new version, and the first official announcement. klick is an advanced command-line based metronome for JACK. It allows you to define complex tempo maps for entire songs or performances. Piano and bass

Hi, I'm a newbie when it comes to audio and linux... I play the guitar by myself, with the help of software like jack and jack-rack. The drums comes from Hydrogen. But where can I get the bass and the electric piano on Linux? Best regards, Dirk

Hardware synths

Folks, OK, Linux synths are great. And yes, if many ways they are. Although recently I got a M-Audio Prokeys88 and I swear the Warmpad sound in there does not have any equivalent in richness in what I've heard so far in Linux soft synths. If you do have an close-sounding Linux soft synth sound, let me know, I'd be very interested in hearing it. That makes me tend to believe that hardware synths sounds are still leading in quality, deepness and richness. Any other opinions ? Cheers, Al

Resonance

Hey y'all I'm looking for something like an array of bandpass filters with feedback, to simulate resonance in different sized spaces. Doesn't have to be particularly real-world-accurate. I've looked at a bunch of jack-friendly and LADSPA effects, and things like that. But none of them seem to be quite what I'm after. Seems like the best option is JMax, or pd, or something like that. But they seem like long steep learning curves. bye John
