Hello,
Does anyone know which tool or library i can use to decode audio data stored
in a ADPCM header-less file? (8kHz, 1 channel, (12,16,25 or 32) bit)
I've tried sox and libsamplerate, but both throws an error.
The data are from a voice-recording machine, with very limited documentation.
It says the data are "standard ADPCM". No idea whether it is IMA or VOX or MS
ADPCM format.
$ sox -i -t raw -r8000 -2 -c1 data.adpcm -t wav out.wav
sox sox: data.adpcm: this encoding is not supported for this data size
(Unsupported data format)
and with sndfile:
<code snip>
sfinfo.format = SF_FORMAT_IMA_ADPCM | SF_FORMAT_RAW;
sfinfo.samplerate = 8000;
sfinfo.channels = 1;
if ((fpr = sf_open ("data.adpcm", SFM_READ, &sfinfo)) == NULL)
...
</code snip>
thanks,

Hi,
I'm aware of and use standard Alsa methods to keep different sound
cards in the same system straight as far as Alsa is concerned. I'm
wondering what the proper process would be to keep 3 HDSP9652's which
are physically in the same system, or multiple USB sound devices
external to the system, straight as far as Alsa is concerned. I'd like
to know that a certain card always will be always be card 0, card 1 or
card 2. I do not want Alsa or Linux to make this decision for me and I
certainly don't want Alsa to change them from boot cycle to boot
cycle.
What's the process to determine which identical card is which? Do
you need to determine some sort of card specific hardware ID and then
write udev rules or is there some way to do this within Alsa?
Thanks,
Mark
Bonjour à tous, bonjour la liste.
Récemment nous avons refusés un concert à Paris (cf
http://www.la4labob.net/blog/index.php?2008/02/13/36-et-la-politique-dans-t…

Hey guys,
I just found this website in my search for music production/linux
laptop. http://www.adkproaudio.com/systems/laptop.cfm
I thought the prices were good but what strikes me as the deal maker
is the ability to save 100 bucks BY NOT INCLUDING AN OS!
Does anybody have any feedback about them? Im really thinking about
getting the 14 inch monitor laptops.

"Mixing with your mind" by Michael Paul Stavrou is an absolute gem. Stav worked at Air Studios in London for many years with Sir George Martin, who wrote the foreword.

It's not cheap but worth every penny, many times over.

Hello All,
I am writing to announce that the Linux Audio User Chillout Band
(currently voting on a name change) has recently completed an album
submitted for the RPM 2008 challenge. The band wiki is hosted here:
http://www.lau-cb.peterlutek.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page
Some of you may remember this project as it grew out of this thread:
http://lalists.stanford.edu/lau/2007/11/0100.html
This project gave us an opportunity to use linux software to write
music released under the CC by-SA license. Each track is available
from here:
http://www.lau-cb.peterlutek.com/wiki/index.php?title=RPM08_Final_Tracks
Not only are the final mixes available but each source track is
available from an open repository accessible from the site wiki.
During the collaboration we ran into some issues pertaining to
maintaining the repository and keeping up with all the different
sources and mix versions. You can see our thoughts and album wrap-up
here:
http://www.lau-cb.peterlutek.com/wiki/index.php?title=RPM_08_Thoughts_and_C…
This project is ongoing and we are currently working on getting the
word out about this release and we are thinking of moving forward with
another project possibly in the upcoming months. New members are
welcome. Feel free to join our mailing list here:

Hey all,
I'm trying to make a live CD for my own personal use. This CD will be
based on Debian using Debian Live
(http://debian-live.alioth.debian.org/). According to their
instructions, any custom kernel I include must have squashfs +
unionfs/aufs. When I try to compile 2.6.24.3 vanilla + Ingo's rt
patch + squashfs + unionfs, it fails:
fs/unionfs/inode.c: In function âunionfs_lookupâ:
fs/unionfs/inode.c:257: error: âstruct nameidataâ has no member named âpathâ
fs/unionfs/inode.c:258: error: âstruct nameidataâ has no member named âpathâ
fs/unionfs/inode.c:269: error: âstruct nameidataâ has no member named âpathâ
fs/unionfs/inode.c:270: error: âstruct nameidataâ has no member named âpathâ
fs/unionfs/inode.c: In function âunionfs_permissionâ:
fs/unionfs/inode.c:888: error: âstruct nameidataâ has no member named âpathâ
fs/unionfs/inode.c:963: error: âstruct nameidataâ has no member named âpathâ
make[3]: *** [fs/unionfs/inode.o] Error 1
make[2]: *** [fs/unionfs] Error 2
make[1]: *** [fs] Error 2
In the interest of saving time, I wanted to see if anyone on the list
has a .deb package of a kernel compiled with rt + squashfs +
unionfs/aufs already made that I can use. I hate to be a leech, but
if someone else has already invented the wheel, there is no need for
me to reinvent. :)
Thank you,
Josh
