hi list,
I have a edirol fa-66 but don't know how to get it working.
I'm using ubuntu studio 8.04
I tried with jack + Freebob and it works for some seconds/minutes...
starts with:
*libiec61883 warning: Established connection on channel 0.
You may need to manually set the channel on the receiving node.
libiec61883 warning: Established connection on channel 1.
You may need to manually set the channel on the transmitting node.
* and soon it freezes or crashes with this message:
*LibFreeBoB ERR: watchdog: timeout*
*06:49:15.279 JACK is being forced...*
*cannot complete execution of the processing graph (Sucesso)*
*zombified - calling shutdown handler*
I got the FFADO repositorie for ubuntu and installed it all.
But when I try to use it, I got the same error messages...
My firewire controller (lspci) is:
FireWire (IEEE 1394): Ricoh Co Ltd R5C832 IEEE 1394 Controller (rev 05)
I have no problem of changing my distribution, if that would get the
equipment to work stable.
Is there a distro where it works better?
thanks for the help anyway! Hope someone can give me some advice.
Hello,
Does anyone know if there's a way to display recorded midi tracks in
Rosegarden with a double staff, treble and bass clef, the way piano
music is usually written?
I'm trying to help out a friend of mine who wants to be able to play
stuff on his midi keyboard and have it automatically written into music
notation, both as a way of learning notation himself and for
communicating with other musicians. We have managed to get rosegarden to
record midi from the keyboard into a track, and display it or export it
to lilypond, but the problem is it can only show a single stave at once,
with either a bass or treble clef but not both.
The rosegarden faq mentions a document which is supposed to explain how
to get rosegarden to show a double piano style stave, but it's moved or
been taken down and I can't find the link.
Thanks for any help with this.

Hi all,
I'm looking at buying Access Virus Snow - a hard synth virtual analog
synthesizer. Concerning VST, its wikipedia entry is described as:
"An outstanding feature of the TI series is "Total Integration": It is
currently the only synthesizer that can be fully integrated in a
current computer based audio workstation as a VST or AU plugin,
including the advantages of sample accurate MIDI timing, host
automation as well as total recall."
There's an old post here - there's been hardware and OS upgrades since
then, ie its still in production:
http://lalists.stanford.edu/lau/2004/11/0245.html
Anyone using this VST on linux?
Robert
In this release:
* Plugin presets (save/restore)
* Improved support for Calf plugins (various extensions needed by
development version)
* MIDI CC/Pitchwheel automation. Not yet available for custom
UIs. Works for float parameters only.
* Replace PHAT fansliders with bundled knobs. PyPhat is no longer
required.
* lv2dynparam host library is now optional. To enable support for
dynparam plugins (lv2zynadd) lv2dynparam1 version 2 is needed.
zynjacku is JACK based, GTK (2.x) host for LV2 synths. It has one JACK
MIDI input port (routed to all hosted synths) and one (two for stereo
synths) JACK audio output port per plugin. Such design provides
multi-timbral sound by running several synth plugins.
zynjacku is a nunchaku weapon for JACK audio synthesis. You have solid
parts for synthesis itself and you have flexible part that allows
synthesis to suit your needs.
lv2rack is a host for LV2 effect plugins.
You need slv2 library to compile zynjacku tarball.

Hi list,
I have recently set up my RME Multiface I + Cardbus card on a dualboot
Windows XP / Debian laptop (Samsung Q45).
Under Windows, everything is working fine, but under Debian, I am
experiencing some strange behavior of hdspmixer (version 1.6), i.e. the
routing does not seem to correlate to the actual fader positions, and
all faders seem to be dead, i.e. moving them does not seem to affect the
routing in any way.
I am aware that a similar problem has been described by Tim Blechmann et
al. in 2004. However, I am not experiencing any of the distorted
playback they have reported then; all signals seem to be clean.
Here is some info on the CardBus from lspci:
04:09.0 CardBus bridge: Ricoh Co Ltd RL5c476 II (rev b4)
(I remember reading about trouble with Ricoh / Multiface combinations
but can't remember any details.)
By the way, the hdspmixer's VU meters reflect the messed up routing,
i.e. where there is some output on the VU meter, there is also a signal.
Has anyone experienced similar problems? I would appreciate any hints.
Thanks,
flo.
Hi

So I tried installing rubberband (from source, since it seems it's not
available in ubuntu 8.04), but that gives me:
atte@vestbjerg:~/software/rubberband/rubberband-1.2$ ./configure
...
checking for Vamp... configure: error: Package requirements (vamp-sdk)
were not met:
No package 'vamp-sdk' found
I did a quick google, but what exactly could I download/install? I found
this:
http://www.vamp-plugins.org/code-doc/dir_5b77fce4b90561041d958141b45c7c55.h…
but that seems to be only the header files. Sorry if it's a stupid question.
Also: what should I do to get vst support? Is it possible to have
support for both native linux vst and windows dll-style vsts? If so how?

Hi all,
I remember coming accross this a while ago but I cannot find the link
right now. Basically, it was software that takes as input a jazz chord
sheet and produces midi accompaniment, mainly for practising purposes
I think. Anyone know the name?
regards,
Rich
Hi,
First time posting on the list. I have some questions regarding audio
production. I've been thinking of setting a small audio production machine,
nothing too fancy, but good enough to create good quality podcasts and do
some mixing. All done in linux of course.
What linux distro do you suggest?
What hardware to use that would work flawlessly on linux?
I'm not a pro when it comes to audio production, so if it's not too much to
ask, please don't be too technical, suggest me a few links so I can learn,
or even explain if you have the time.
Thank you all for taking your time to read.
