think this is because the mcu (port?) of ardour isn't connected to
the BCF. But, qjackctl won't let me connect those. They don't show
up in the MIDI tab of qjackctl. They only show up in the ALSA tab of
qjackctl.

Try none. Raw takes the place of a2j

Hello everyone!
I'm in Paris next weekend, visiting a friend. Since my friend will have to
work on monday, I have a whole day in one of the best cities ever without
anything to do. :-) How about it? Is anyone free and willing to pass some
time?
Warmly yours
Julien

Hi all,
I've recently installed ubuntustudio 12.04 and after trying it out, i
discovered that my M-Audio Oxygen8 v2 MIDI USB (yes it is class compliant)
keyboard is not recognised.
It was recognised out of the box on my previous setup based on ubuntu 10.04.
By not recognized, i mean that it doesn't appear in qjackctl connexions.
thus i cant route the connexions correctly...
Below are some logs !
How come it doesn't work any more ? How can i correct this ?
Thanks a lot
Cheers,
jy

Julien,
photorec (http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec) claims to be able to recover .wav files: it might be worth a try.
Good luck!
Colin.

Subject: [LAU] [ot] Data recovery
Hello everyone!
I'm sorry to post this here. I've just deleted two days worth of recording
work by accident or lack of concentration. It has just happened. Any trick to
get the files back. I think, nothing should have been written on the partition
yet. It's mostly .wav-files, so I can't just grep the device file for the
partition for some text. The computer has one more partition, but it's
smaller, so methods, that require a full image of this partition are out.
Thanks for any advise! and kind regards
Julien

Hi,
The second selection in the new series called "Featured Artists" is up now
at:
http://linux-audio.com
Featuring
##### Louigi Verona #####

Background info
*******************
The idea behind the new "Featured Artists" section at the Linux Audio
Users Guide is to provide a promotional vehicle for the artists in our
vibrant community to showcase their work and to entertain and educate our
audience at the same time. Think of it as an exhibition or installation
where the "Art Gallery" is 450x800 pixels and the audience is people who
are genuinely interested in Linux Audio and multimedia.
If you are an artist and you would like to participate in this project we
will assist with programming and planning to help you realise your vision.
Please contact me directly if you would like to take part in this project.
Cheers

I haven't come across anything before, but has anyone come across a
matrix mixer, either in plugin or standalone form for Linux? Something
similar to the matrix mixer objects in AudioMulch or the Acousmodule
VSTs. I am aware of a couple of examples in PD, and googling brings up
links to SuperCollider emails, but I would rather a more ready made
approach if possible.
thanks
Michael
hey all i've tried to do this on my own and failed :( so my question to you all is this how do you enable real time scheduling for audio work in ubuntu?
your help with this question would be most welcome kind regards trahern.
hey all i have a jack audio qjackctl orca specific problem before i tell you what it is heres the spec of my computer:
14 inch laptop Intel Pentium i7 2.90 ghz quod core processer
8gb ram
1tb hard drive
the problem is this when i launch qjackctl orca slows down to such a degree that even the most Basic of navigational functions becomes impossible my research has revealed that when just orca and normal programs are running orca takes up 1% c p u usage but when qjackctl are running together orca takes up 60% c p u usage this is before i try to set jack to use the sound card i want to use for music production. any idea what the problem is? Your help with this problem would be most welcome kind regards trahern.
Hello everyone1
Is anyone here a little familiar with praat? Praat is supposed to run on the
commandline, accepting its scripting languages. But when I ran praat just now
- after years of no use -, I only get this:
> praat -
(praat:25242): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:
On the praat webstie, this method is still mentioned in the tutorial as
acceptable.
I'm running Debian Squeeze and Praat 5.1.42-1 from the Debian repository.
Last time I started it must have beenunder Debian Lenny.
Does anyone have any suggestion? all the libraries are correctly installed,
or should be. I did work with GNOME a little on this release.
Warm regards
Julien
