Thank's, I just need to my laptop to try this out!

Hey all,
So my US428 seems to be behaving now(although with the Layla20
that I just bought, the tascam is being used more as a control
surface then an audio interface). But I can't get any audio input
on channels 3 and 4. Jack seems unable to start the tascam as a 4
channel device. Is there something I have to do to enable those
channels? Thanks

I'm stumped yet again trying to do the most elementary
kindergarten excercise of plugging in a cheap mic into
my early SBlive and capture the input via arecord. I've
managed to get it working, once upong a time, by turning
everything up but now I'd like to isolate exactly what
is required in alsamixer to get this to work so I can
document it at alsa.opensrc.org.
Simple wav playback...
Master 71% (unmute)
PCM 71% (unmute)
Wave 72%
... is the above correct ?
Simple wav record...
(as above, plus...)
Mic 71% (unmute) (capture on)
Mic Boost (unmute) - optional
????
What do I need to add to record the SBlive mic ?
***
On a related note there is something strange with the
3 screen views of alsamixer... the F4 Capture page shows
CD | Mic | Video | Phone without volume sliders but hese
4 items do not appear, as is, on the F5 All screen ?
Specific bonus question, how do the 4 items on the F4
Capture page relate to the 4 similar named itmes on the
F5 All page that do show volume sliders, mute and capture
options ?
That kinda leads to yet another question, what is the
proper proccedure to deal with either or both these
sets of options ?

I plan to get a M-Audio Evolution MK-449C MIDI controller.
It is not listed in the ALSA web page (only MK-225C, MK-249/C, MK-361/C).
¿Does anybody has experienced with this device under GNU/Linux?
Thanks in advance.
Martín.
I asked someone how they did some recording with midi that sounded
real. The response follows:
"I found a free ware program called Anvil studio, with this I can find a
midi i like on the net and take out every thing but the parts i want
(the drum track and bass track). If i dont like the bass sound i can
choose from different bass sounds like acustic, fretless, fingerpicked,
slap, ect. you cant change the drums but you can adjust the balance
between the base and drums. Then i put it on cassette tape ( I use my 424
) or you can use audacity (use the "what-u-hear tab") You can adjust the
EQ to make it sound better also. with the audacity you can boost the
bass and ad some compresion to the bass. then you add your vocal,
guitars, keyboard, ect and you got a band"
Do we have anything like that? Something that can take midi and make it
sound more real?

Go to their site and check. It is not really designed for this, but ...
This costs $$. You can start with knoppix or debian and then install all this
stuff yourself.
Howdy,
I recently moved my main production box from a debian install that pulled from
the DeMudi apt resources to a straight install of DeMudi 1.2.0. Everything
works beautifully - except Jamin. This is what happens on startup:
domino:~> jamin
jamin 0.9.0

Ouch. I miss it so! Any ideas?

Hi,
All worked out I needed some revitalisation so I made a song last night. :)
No psycho-analysis of the lyrics, please, I'm afraid what might come of
it ;).
The tune is called Undecided and it's about a car crash...I think. It's a kind
of modern metal tune with spoken song, no idea what genre it would be put in.
Here it is:
http://spamatica.se/music/spamatica/default/spamatica_-_undecided.ogg
Software used:
MusE, Linuxsampler, Jamin, oggenc, ecasound
Gear used:
Delta 44 (soundcard)
PODxt
Cheap condenser + ART preamp/compressor
Hamer electric guitar
Yamaha electric guitar (for all the slide stuff)
Suzuki bass (it's true!) + misused Behringer preamp.
Here's a shot of the tune in progress:

Dear list,
Does anyone know a way of getting Rosegarden's metronome output 'as
audio'. The only method I can think of is to create a bar's worth of
pulse on a MIDI track and then change the track's instrument assignment
to a percussion sound on a dssi plugin. Anyone got a simpler way?
Thanks,
Jamie

Forgive me, I'm still a bit confused.
$ amidi -l
Device Name
hw:0,0 M Audio Delta 1010LT MIDI
hw:1,0,0 Midisport 2x2 MIDI 1
hw:1,0,1 Midisport 2x2 MIDI 2
Does this mean that sysexxer should capture /dev/midi for the the korg
through the delta 1010 on hw:0,0?
