Hi all,
Apologies for clogging-up the mailing list with OT stuff but I've been trying to (unsuccessfully) reach Paul Davis for a couple weeks now via his normal e-mail and I am suspecting that there might be some e-mail issues. Hence, please forgive me for using this as my means of getting in touch with Paul.
To Paul:
Could you please contact me (ico_at_fuse_._net or ico_at_meowing_._ccm_._uc_._edu) regarding the visit we discussed towards the beginning of January?
Many thanks!
Best wishes,
Ico

Noob question: I've made a start at trying to create a
podcast-like "show" using mainly Audacity and I cannot
figure out how to get the signal fully saturated without
clipping. I was wondering if anyone here would have some
tips on how to get a "fat" wav like the image below ?
http://opensrc.org/index.php?page=MarkConstable
Maybe this kind of question would be better on the LAM
mailing-list... is this kind of discussion appropriate
or of interest here ?

I bought a cheap Chaintech AV-170, which has 8 outputs; it's a 7.1 card using
a Envy24HT chip from VIA. Only 6 out of 8 outputs are working so far. How to
activate the last 2 outputs?

The only way I could find to 'mute' sections of guitar was to create two
tracks and edit them to do the muted and the standard guitar. Attached
is a small sample of what I mean. I would like to do it so that it
shows in notation better; as in on one staff. Is there a way?

Hi, List
I'm new to Linux Audio so apologies if this is a FAQ. I've just worked out
how to use my PC as an effects processor (I "play" guitar - but I am getting
better). I'm using a Terratec DMX 6fire 24/96 soundcard and manage to get
pretty good latency (5ms) with a stock SuSE 9.1 kernel (even running KDE!).
I use qjackctl to control the jack server, and ecamegapedal (sometimes creox)
to supply the effects, and I've just managed to work out how to use ecasound
from the CLI to record input and output streams (to show a Winders using
friend what Linux can do).
There's just a couple of nagging questions that I've not managed to work out
on my own.
1. Is there anyway to store and recover the jack connections so I don't have
to disconnect the defaults and repatch every time I start jack.
2. Is there any way to save the effect settings after I've tweaked them to
perfection in ecamegapedal, so they can be recalled (maybe I'm not using the
best application).
Thanks in advance

This is a little different. I'm housesitting all month for a
friend in Santa Fe, New Mexico, US.
So, without all my musical equipment here, I decided to grit my
teeth and learn a little about LilyPond, the great GNU music
notation/engraving program for Linux/*BSD (and Windows under Cygwin).
Therefore, although this post is to share a little of my own
made-with-Linux music, it is a visual rather than audio file-- a
PDF document of a short piano piece I wrote ages ago in my early
20s (and which I chose because I thought it would be fairly easy
to notate). For anyone who might be interested, the file is here:

(the filename is "enchanted-island.pdf")

Hi. I've been itching to try the new sooperlooper-1.0.0beta28.
I don't know where else to post a bug report.
I am using gcc-3.3.3 and wxGTK 2.4.
I tried upgrading to wxGTK 2.5 as well, but can't see to get ./configure
to see the new version.
When I try to compile it I get the following error:

Any ideas?
Hi,
since the first tests while developing Sysexxer, which
unfortunately uses /dev/midi instead being an ALSA sequencer
client, I saw a thing which still remains.
When receiving a complete sysex bank from the Access Virus,
the first three bytes are sometimes missing.
This does not depend on sysexxer, but also appears when I do a
cat /dev/midi > sysexfile.syx
I'm using an Edirol UM-1S, a one in one out USB2MIDI device
with Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.6
(Sun Aug 15 07:17:53 2004 UTC). Compiled on Jan 26 2005 for
kernel 2.6.10ce (SMP).
I have disabled all OSS stuff in the Kernel config, and I even
ensured that the OSS USB-MIDI driver is disabled there.
Did anybody else make this experience? Anyone else using
SysExxer?
A Friend politely wrote SysExxer for me. Unfortunately, he was
not that familiar with ALSA so he prepared a second sound
system in the code but he denied to write the ALSA code.
Someone here who'd like to add the missing code (in the hope
this fixes the problem above)?
Best regards
ce
